Podigy Brake Controler

I just bought a new 2005 and want to move my Prodigy Brake Controller from my 2001. I am assuming I can do this, now for the stupid question how do I unplug the pigtail from the 2001? I can't get it to budge, no problem unplugging from the BC Unit. Thanks, Bill

There should a raised tab on one of the long sides of the plug that attaches to the socket on the truck. Just push it in and pull the plug out.



I would make sure the plug from your 2001 truck is compatible with the 2005. I know there was a difference between my '99 and '05.

Thanks, that makes sense I was not pushing in on the tab. I went to the Prodigy site and they only sell a wiring harness for 1996 to 2004... The web site brake controller.com claims the wiring harness is the same for 96 thru 2005???

When I got my 05 I took the controller from my 03. It to a different adapter that was with the new truck. I ended up having to go back to the dealer to have the guys show me where to plug the brake in. It was kind of hidden above where I thought it should of been.

The folks from Podigy e-mailed me yesterday and said the wiring harness that worked on my 2001 will work on the 2005.

The plug is under the dash to the ledt of the brake pedal and is part of the wire harness. It should be in around the same location as the old truck and should look similar to the one on your old truck

Mine was near the same location, but was zip tide up behind where I could not see it. We got it loose and then it came to the left and could get to it easily.

Thanks for the replys, I took delivery of my new truck on Saturday. I was supposed to get it Friday but they put a RV plug in the bed not a 6 pin like I requested. My Prodigy went in in less than 10min, the connector was right up next to the brake pedal like you all said. Now I am in business.

One more question, is there a puke bottle to relocate on the 2005's, I can't find one? Also I have gone from a 4 x 4 to a 2wd, I did not anticipate that I would have a hard time geting under the truck, do you guys use ramps when doing your oil changes? Looks to me the only way to get the oil filter out would be from the bottom. Thanks, Bill

There is no puke bottle on the newer engines. It is a totally different setup. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think your breather is on top of the valve cover under that black cover and not on the front like the 2nd gen. I have a 2nd gen 2wd and have never had issues getting underneath to do routine maint. Plenty of room. 3rd gens. may be a tad different but I doubt it. They look to sit as high as mine. I have been underneath a few now. So you should'nt need ramps.....

Litespeed is right on the missing puke bottle. No idea on the need for ramps, I have 4x4. I think you can get to the filter from the top side, by removing the air intake plumbing. 2 clamps and it slips right off. Also lets you inspect the turbo, while you're there.

Thanks again for the replys, good to know the puke bottle is no longer an issue. My 2001 4 X 4 had lots of room underneath could put a 5 gal bucket under the oil pan and still have a couple of inches to spare. The turbo on the new one sits a lot lower, more plumbing than I am used to. I 'll let you know how the first oil change goes in a couple of months... Bill

Yep, the two wheel drive 3rd gen trucks are close to the ground in the front. I raise mine up with a floor jack placed under the front main cross member for draining the crankcase. For a drain pan, I use a "flame wrench" modified 35-lb grease drum which also fit under my former 2nd gen trucks.



I remove and install the engine oil filter from the top after taking off the air intake pipe the same way I did on my 2nd gen trucks.
