PODs VS PW Vs '89 Stock Injectors

wel i got some "Supposedly" POD injectors this weekend and swapped the in my '89 but it has less smoke then stock. . what is the right part # for pods vs the PW's i know PW's will give less power then Stock. I have a eeling these might be PW's that the owner Thought were PODs . These have no idle haze, hardly any smoke(mainly Grey smoke Stock '89s would be BLACK Cloud), and my injector pump is turned up to the max with out internal mods... i'm gonna pull em out and check the #'s and swap in my stock injectors and see the difference.

any ideas?

Teh PODs are not a Bosch injsector so if the say Bosch on them, PODs they are not! PW injectors are comparable to the stock injectors in your 89. They can flow quite well. Just check out my sig for the latest numbers. PODs will flow more but witht he resulting smoke.



The POD injector has 4 holes. More than that and you have something else. Somewhere I saw the actual part number for them bat a quick search did not come up with it. Sorry can't be mroe help.

Deo, you should be able to see a number on the top of the inj body without removing it. Plus I think you can see 'Delphi Lucas' on it in the inj bore still in the truck.
 
some one else told me that on the lucas pods the retaining nut is not removeable. . more power with less smoke. . mummn maybe i know it definately has less smoke . . not sure of the power... i guess i need to do my p7100swap sooner then i thought huh?...
 
well maybe my twins arew burning it all but heck the stock hy35 has its stock waste gate hooked up seems to be limiting the twins to about 30psi . . i think im gonna have totry the turn buckle or spring method or make a new bottom turbo ... even at 30 psi no smoke and egts stay about 1100 to 1200 max on long pull my pump has acustom ground fuel cone pin. . set at max star wheell all the way down,the spring was heated and squashed so it doesn't work and the spacer was shaved down to less then 1/4 its stock size..... , the max rpm is turned att he way back tothe aluminum so it could go high but the governor is limiting rpm to 2400-2800 on the tach ( which i think is messed up says 2400-2800), the max fuel screw is turned in as far as i can with the engine returning down to idle , and new case lift pump. so unless i swap the gov spring or fool with the delivery valves im kinda stuck at this power. . which frankly is not impressive. i have allthe parts besides throttle linkage for the p7100 swap , just waiting to finish the welding on the gear case. im using a 8. 3l pump so i had to feed oil thru the gear case... once thats figured out i could swap in on. . 370s,lazer d valves, #4 plate,4k springs, in a 12mm pump. . should provide some fuel..... new transmission here i come ha. . but 307 gears should rock. . what do you think . . any ideas tomax fuel the ve for now. . maybe increase max pressure which that front pump adjustment?...

feed some ideas my way...

eventually i have another engine i want to machine for fire rings, 14mm studs and bore out for my marine pistons. . might as well machine pistons for a big cam & then and swap the gear case when i do that... so i don't blow the head gasket asap. .

I noticed a big improvement on power when I put in the Bully Dogs, which are a little less "powerful" that the PODs.

You should have seen an improvent in your 89 with the PODs from the stockers.

Wanna tryout my "modified" stockers? pm me if ya do.

Brings a BIG smile to my face when a "Navigator" , "Spider" or "Geo Metro" are close behind.

man i don't know i think this thing will pass a emissions test fine thast how much its lacking smoke wise. . not sure why or if the twins clear it up quick or what. . but the stockers with the twins would still leave a black cloud behind ya when ya goosed it. . these are grey small cloud not dark weird. . yeah maybe jay its just a pain to swap em again etc. . i still have some minor other truck stuff to finish before i tune it more. . thanks
