American dollars..........who needs 'em?

Why?

I really see the capture as something that should have been done at the beginning of the war. I am glad we finally got him, now if we can keep him alive. He will have every heavy Bathist out there looking to knock him off. After all if he dies, he is a martyr, if he lives he is a danger to give their positions. In all, if it saves one GIs life, the capture is good.

As for a difference in the big picture, not much, we will see the out of town suicide bombers still coming in, and we still have a lot of other factions to deal with. Another decade of occupation at least.

Is Bush still going to give out the 25,000,000? It should go to the GIs who captured him. :D

I don't know how you fairly divide that money up, CF, but I agree with you (I must be slipping ;))

Reports were there were 600 in on Operation Red Dawn. There's prolly a lot more than that who deserve a little more than standard wages by now.

How 'bout they split it up amongst the KIA families?

CF- I agree with you that the service men and women should get the reward. How about all enlisted in all branches? They deserve a raise!

You guys and gals (politically correct:D ) notice the operation call name?

Reference to an older movie about the invasion of America by Russian and Cuban forces and the "kids" that fought them gorilla style. The wolverine is also referenced in the movie.

How's that for moving this thread to a non political bent. :D

Go troops!

I think they tried

Should have caught Saddam sooner?I really believe that we were trying to catch him all along . First,we tried to use bunker busters. Then, we tried to find his DNA in all the mess it made. Then it was electronic eavesdropping-- That is how we got his sons if I remember correctly. In any case,it wasn't for lack of effort. [Leaving the politicians out of it],I'll give the military more credit than that.

The way they finally ''Got 'im''was to round up LOW LEVEL associates and sweat them down, catch more, sweat them down, until the right one finally broke. This kind of stuff takes time and the ability to probe and probe until the right lucky break happens.

I just hope that a Saddam gets a Sodium Pentathol sedative[truth serum] to get more info from him. That might not meet Geneva Convention protocol, but I could look the other way ;)

Since the title of this thread is political, my pick of the two politicians who took the high road in their post-capture comments are Dick Gephart and George Bush

Champane Flight-

Glad to see you're coming around. :) For once, I agree with you, mostly. I can see how you could think it was a political move, but I dont think it was; just wasnt quite timed right, IMO. I believe they would have captured him earlier, had they known where he was. One thing I think we can all agree on is this: The world is better off now that we know where he was, and now if we just avoid handing him over to the Useless Nations... .

CF- Glad to see you're still here. It just wouldnt be a good political discussion without ya.

Not!

I still don't believe in this war, I don't believe Iraq was an immediate threat, and I don't believe that that useless old bum they caught in a hole was worth the 427 lives sacrificed to get him. I don't think that the 87 billion dollars being spent on the rebuilding of Iraq is a wise investment.

We are there, we cannot leave now, we crossed the line. We are stuck, make the best of it, if there is a best. I am not happy, there were more suicide bombers today in Iraq, more death. We sent the invitations, I guess we have to host the party now.

I will be gone soon to. Not because of political, personal, or problems with this website. I have a big project coming up and will be very busy for the next year or two, will not have the luxury of a computer for awhile (probably have computer DTs). I am going to let my membership lapse. Might be back in a year or so. I have enjoyed the battles and banter, they will be missed.

I am not as noble as Bill and am trying to build a spot up in the hills. Far away from human kind, someplace where my natural hermit can grow and develop. You see, I am growing tired of people, the more I know, the more I like my dogs. :D

I will have to agree with you about the 87 billion. That is a lot to swallow. Hopefully it will be a good investment in the future.

As far as us invading Iraq that was started by Bush Sr. a long time ago and was never finished due to the UN. There are a lot of loose ends that GW is trying to tie up including Osama and North Korea. The last two administrations cared too much about their reputations and left a mess that culminated with 9/11. Remember who started these battles, Sadaam invaded Kuwait and Osama invaded the US. Now we are playing footsies with North Korea. Who's fault will it be if they light one off?

Anyway, we need guys like you CF to balance the load and even though things get hot around here when you speak you are a knowledgeable TDR member worth listening to.

?

Don't know what they are up to now. Got a letter from some bottom feeder saying they were investigating and may sue for damages. Gave it all to the insurance, they refused any settlement and wrote back saying they may still try to sue. But, no word yet. It has been eight months since the refusal, I am thinking they got dumped by the lawyer for lying to him. The kid is fine, and is back giving the teachers heck.

After all of the dog attacks in Colo, some of the politicians are trying to repeal first bite laws and trying to ban the breed. A lady was killed last week up north by three pitbulls running loose. It does not look good for the breed. All because of bad ownership. My Dozer of course is in doggy heaven, all I have now is my old Yeller dog and a one eyed Pug. :(

Keep flying the flags of Dissent! That is what makes us great. I have disagreed with a lot of your posts, but you Do have the right to post them. Intelligent debate is a challenge to all of our beliefs. So keep the sub, you`ll still enjoy the magazine. You will at least have a candle to read by, won`t you? Enjoy the solitude. DK.

Being raised in the middle of no where like I was, I can understand your comment on people. I still do not like cities, nor will I ever, unfortunately most of the time to earn a living we must live close to one. Its not the people its you. Not a flame by the way, you are just getting older, your tastes have changed, maybe someday you will even be a conservative (joke). lol

There is still hope for CF to come around.

You guys surely know what Churchill said about changing from a liberal to a conservative??

He said,"If you are not a liberal at 20, you have no heart; if you are not a conservative by 40, you have no mind!

Hey, CF, are you 40 Yet??

As one of your regular detractor, I too will miss our:-{}

Good luck to you, and I too understand your inclination to live a bit apart from the "mobs". I have refused to live in town for the past 35 years---if you can't step out on the front porch and take a whiz without worry that someone will see you, its way too crowded!!!

I'm not sure I want him to come around

Though I seldom agreed with you, CF, I do respect the fact that you rarely made anything personal, and attacked the ideas more than the person expressing them. I'll miss you on this board. I kind of agree with you on the people part. Seems the more I meet, the more I belive the idea from Men IN Black- "the person is smart; people are dumb, dilusional, and get scared about nothing. " Cant quite remember the quote, but the gist of it is the same. I havent reached the time in my ilfe where I can afford or want to bad enough to become a hermit. I still get a kick out of helping stupid people make complete total fools of themselves. :-{} "You're trying to make me look stupid. " "You dont need any of MY help for that. "

See ya around.

I'm only 24; I'm either way ahead of myself or have no heart. Hmmm..... Do I REALLY need to tell you which applies?

Actually

Actually at 20 I was quite conservative. Way over 40 now. I think I am more against our government than I am against our president. Been lied to when lives mattered, been lied to where my life mattered, and been lied to where my livelihood mattered. I don't trust a thing that comes out of any politicians of mouth. That is the reason I am backing a professional military man. Go Clark!:D

Uh oh- I am agreeing with CF yet again (please, advise a 12 step program for me:D )

Reminds me of a bumber sticker I saw: "I love my country, but fear my goernment"
