Trying to find a set to put under the cab of my truck. Has anyone installed them? The only ones I have found are for years 72-85. Will these fit the later years as well? IF not, has anyone found a source for them?

TIA

Give Les Schwab a call to see if they can find them. that way you will know if they exist. If they can get a set shoot me an email - might have a source for them. When I replaced the suspension bushings on my old '79 Dodge van they worked quite well but squeaked something awful. I would suspect that they would not squeak under your cab.

I haven't seen a set of poly buhings that didn't squeak.

I agree with Philip. Make sure ou don't mind the noise BEFORE you put them in, because they WILL squeek.

Believe me, I've seen it:mad:

I have seen poly cab bushings used on Chevy gaser P/U's. Every one squeaked on turns and anything that would cause the mounts to flex. They last forever if you can stand the squeaking at times.

You might want to look into poly-graphite bushings. They are impregnated with graphite and might work. The graphite is supposed to stop the squeak.

Yup I'm going to agree with the description "... they all squeaked. . "

My brother went thru the same exercise with his 92' he fortunately listened and put in OEM rubber to replace the old ones... no problem since. .

I have used poly in the suspension of my trucks for years. My first truck a '75 ramcharger I put in polys when I lifted it and it squeaked terribly. I friend told me that anti seize works well as an assembly lube. I took apart the ramcharger and re-assembled it with antiseize and it never made any noise for the next 100k that I owned it. Since then I have used the Energy Suspension lube and it has worked well also. If installed properly and lubed properly when you get them they should last the life of the truck without noise. Just my thought.

Since you've been using that lube have you seen any accellerated wear on the bushings???

Normally you don't lube those types of joints because it grabs and holds dust and dirt. That in turn becomes "sandpaper" causing bushings to wear... .

I'm curious on your experience here.....

Bob,

I have not seen any excessive wear with the lube. From what I have noticed the friction from using them dry has worn them a bit.

When I was 16 I built my first Dodge, a '75 ramcharger with poly bushings and first installed them dry. In about 6 months of squeaky wheeling I took it apart and noticed wear. I assembled it with new bushings with antiseize and drove it for the next 5 years without a prob. In fact I think that the lube seals up the bushing and prevents dirt from entering. The Energy Susp. lube is a thick clear lube and is very hard to wash off. It will normally leave a small bead around the bushing after tightening. I just left the bead for protection. When I built the ramcharger I did not know about the Energy lube. I will continue to use the lube because of the good results and long life that I have seen. My '91 ctd has poly in the front Skyjacker spring bushings. The truck had these springs under it for years. I bought the truck from the original owner he did not say how long ago he installed the springs. The bushings are cracked at the ends and it currently makes no noise. But they are cracked and there are no signs of ever being lubed. I will change them when I get a chance and use lube.
