If your tires are largern than stock, you have miles driven error. My 265's are 9. 9% over stock diameter. That is the amount of error in mileage readings. It really sounds like you are having boost issues as well. Loaded/unloaded mileage should be 2-5 MPG different.

With my 1T I get about 15L/100km* loaded up with the camper (and the same just driving around town). BC is full of mountain ranges so it's up one side and down the other. That's with the Edge set to 2. It makes a big difference. I think a Smarty -- which lets you control the timing -- would help. Slowing down when you're empty helps too. It's too easy to give 'er going up the hills.

* For all our American friends that's 16mpg (US) and hand calculated. I have 3. 55 gears which means I use 3rd a lot.

Percentage is computed this way. Large number minus small number, and the sum divided by the large number. My mileage is consistant with trucks with the same equipment in the same driving scenario.

Glad that decided to check this forum tonight. Have a '98. 5 24v 3/4 ton and just in the past few weeks the mileage started decreasing. Was getting about 21-22 empty and it has fallen to around 19. Read a previous post that this might be an indication that the VP44 pump is going bad. Are there any tests to confirm this? Seem to recall that these are expensive to replace and do not want to start swapping parts.
