Well, it is time to ask the pros out there what could be wrong with my 94 2500 this time... Getting poor mileage (14 or so, normally get 19) and little to no turbo whine. . It sounds like it has some whine to it but not like it used to have... Just got back home after a 2600 mile trip... Started losing the mileage on the way home... Oh, and the silencer ring has been taken out, so it used to be loud, if you know what I mean. . Can anyone help me out??

Jeff,
When is the last time you changed the air filter?
Make sure air tunnel is not blocked up.
One member had a rodent build nest in his filter housing. So check that too.

If everything checks out at frontdoor, than you need to check out backdoor(exhuast system) exhaust housing, cat (especially cat) muffler... .

Third turbo could be going out. But probably blocked cat or intake air being restricted.

You might want to invest in some gauges. They will help to diagnose the problem, if it is boost related, and they will give you peace of mind while driving.

I had this happen after the shop put new batties in. Turbo was quiet and she put a load of smoke when I took off nicely. It no power what so ever. Even the exhaust sound was blaaa could not hear the turbo coming through the exhaust at all.
I took it back to the shop. I told them this problem. I said it was not running like this when I brought it in. They looked at it for a while. Then he asked if he could drive it. After he had driven it he says it works fine now. Yes they played dumb with me.
These are some things to check
Turbo duct and clamps to the intercooler.
Wastegate for sticking or binding.

How do you go about checking the wastegate for proper operation??

Install boost gauge. Should be able to push 18 to 22 psi boost.
Or hook compressed air to the wastegate. DO NOT EXCEDE 30 PSI !! Watch the shaft move up when you give it some compresses air. Then release the air pressure and make sure shaft goes back down.
