Who would like a rebuilt 3.9bta?

diesels

If your going to invent a new diesel combo, try one that has already been done. Dodge, as an option, put the Perkins in their 300s in the 60s. Very few left today. Too bad it didn't catch on as a 354 Perkins under the hood would be a reliable engine. Someome would find a way to get it into a first gen easily. A second or third gen would take a little thinking.

Once a 354 got shoehorned in, someone would be hot on their heels with the 540 Perkins V8 diesel...

goin' for diesel tech and power generation...)

Sorry Will, I can't help with the tuition. Be cheaper to buy you a truck. My son would be Pi$$ off with me if did. Best I can do is wish you good luck. You should be able to get a nice 1stgen even if it is a year or two down the road.

There are still some that show up with low miles and they are cheaper every year. Stay on the forum and learn all you can here. You will be ready to own one by the time you get it. As a diesel engineer, you just might be the one that takes these things to the next level of performance.

We'll see :) Believe me, I have definitely been searching for a truck I can afford for a long time, a REALLY long time... I know of a VERY clean 5 speed 93 4x4 reg. cab near me that could possibly come up for sale soon, the guy's moving and is selling off everything QUITE cheap (my friend bought a 60 or so horsepower 2001 bobcat skid steer from the guy for $5500) If it's close enough to summer when I am working full time, and that truck comes up for sale, I am going to take a serious look at purchasing it. It's quite wierd being in school and having no money, I worked a year full time before going to school, so it's REALLY strange to me compared to my roommates who all just graduated high school.

LOL on the comment about pi$$ing your son off :)

Don't look at a few bombs as "upping the power" think of it as returning the cummins to its natural state after being detuned by dodge for their pickups. After all you can buy the same engine with its "normal" power if you dont mind driving a bus or garbage truck around :D
