Sam & Bob,

Not to debate the thermodynamics regarding the 30 PSIG boost, but that question aside, where's the "smoke and poke"? Obviously, something has changed. :(

Just got off the phone with Aaron--those guys are GREAT:D Seems they have a Utah State Holiday today--Pioneer Day--but they came to work anyway--'cause they knew I was compaligning;) Anyway its on its way back for him to test. Can't upgrade software though--I tried:(

Why wouldn't the motor make more boost? As RPM increases so will manifold preasure--it just takes it longer to do without additional fueling, and with the added boost there is "0" benefit without additional fuel. The waste gate will not open and the part of the box that still worked is still reporting to the ECM that everything is fine.

Something has to be the matter, and I am not blaming Edge--they have a great product that is 2nd to none and thier customer service is wonderful, but I don't think my Cummins is laying down at 26500 miles--now maybe the VP44 is gone, but doudtful.

I will report when I get box back on Friday.

Max

Definitely curious as to what Aaron finds and what the outcome is (i. e. box is dead, other). Keep us posted! Thanks! :)

Let me see if I can shed a little light on this subject. I am an Edge dealer. In the last month or so I have had 3 customers and myself have EZ failures. In all cases, Edge UPSed a brand new unit to the customer with a return label for the failed unit. These units have been taken into the morgue at Edge and we are awaiting the autopsy results. In all cases, the box became so HOT that you could not touch it. The biggest killer to electronics is heat. I called my supplier this morning to tell them about this thread. He told me that Edge is closed for some local holiday and that they will all be in the office tommorrow. This is a very similar problem we had several years ago with the Plug n Powers. Hot weather came and some of the boxes fried themselves. I have always been impressed with the integrity of Edge. Give'em a minute, they'll solve the problem and make it right!

Barry- Just so's we're clear, this was not started as a 'Bash-Edge' thread, I think we're all aware and have heard nothing but positive things about the PE products and their service. Just so happens that someone brought it up and we'd all been thinking the same thing, most of us wondering if it was our imagination. I believe Edge will support the product I purchased, just wanted to make sure we WEREN'T imagining it! Since there's no way for us to test these things ourselves, it's more of a 'feel' thing than anything else. Thanks for the info, though, 'preciate it!

Barry,

What ZMan said! :) I have every confidence that Power Edge will support their product, and I certainly am not bashing the company or any of their products. I know that, since I bought my EZ from you, you'll do the same. It's just that I've had this nagging feeling that something was wrong, but really couldn't "prove" it since I didn't have any baseline information. I'm perfectly willing to sit tight and see what Aaron tells Max and how Brett responds to my e-mail, and we'll take it from there.

I Just took my dewlly in to the dealer for it's 7000 mile tire rotation deal in prep for my next week 5th wheeler haul... . so de-bombed the baby (-EZ) the day before so as to look 'natural' to the dealer.

Needless to say, the drive to the dealer and back today could only be described as 'limp mode'! Horrible!

Will be putting the EZ back on in about 5 minutes... nuf of that 'limp mode' crap::D

... ie, no smoke... . no 'in the pants'~=bad EZ... sorry and hope you get get your smoke back ASAP.

My dad's box from PowerEdge has never worked. You can drive it in all three power levels and there is not one bit of difference. I emailed Brett and Aaron at PowerEdge almost a year ago with little response. My last email I sent to them was the middle of September 2001. They said they were going to send us a new box and we'd just ship back the one we had. We never saw it in the mail and I wasn't able to get a reply from them which is very bad business if you ask me. Since then I've dealt with Diesel Dynamics which is very convenient with them being here in town and their products are top of the line. There are many people that I rope with or know in the horse industry that drive Dodge's and ask what I think of certain products and PowerEdge is one I don't recommend to any of my friends because of the service, or should I say lack of it. I pretty much gave up on PowerEdge. The box from my dad's truck has just been sitting here. I thought about selling it in the TDR classifieds but I didn't want to **** off a fellow member by selling them something that didn't work. Hopefully someone from PowerEdge is actually reading this response and might be courteous enough to follow through with what they offered, but I won't be holding my breath. :(

Aaron Called me this afternoon---EST they are MST so it was his morning--any how, I sent box next day mail but it wasn't there yet, but he just called me up to verify that I sent it. Now that is Customer Service

He said he would let me know what he finds out. By the way, yesterday he did go into work--on a holiday--to return customers phone calls--I doubt many of us would do that.

I have been and still are deeply impressed with this company's customer service.

Max/Ron,

Please keep us posted on what Edge finds out and what they do to correct it. I'm still waiting on a response to my e-mail to Brett yesterday... .

The boxes Diesel Dynamics use are made for them by Edge in case you didn't know.

You said the last email you sent was Sept 2001? Did you try calling on the phone at all? I know a while back they got hit with a virus and didn't answer email for sometime. And they also moved locations since then.

Sounds like you have one of the orginal boxes... ..... with it properly hooked up ... did you check if the inline fuse (in the harness)was there, or blown???????

Do you plan on calling them?

I don't blame you, if I lived in Vegas I would definatly have to be stopping by DD from time to time :D

Yep, I will keep you posted, as I told Aaron to tell me what he found out. I don't wish that something is the matter with the box, but if there is nothing wrong with box--I am lost, not to mention I will be pretty stupid starting this post:--)

Max,

I guess the only conclusive way for me to tell if anything's wrong or not is to find another EZ for a 2002 and then to run some 50-80 MPH 6th gear timed tests with my current EZ and the "other" EZ - the numbers should tell the tale...

I'm convinced, however, that something's going on - I really don't think that I'm dreaming this stuff.

Rusty

me either

methinks if you guys are on to to something then so am I. I can't believe we'd ALL be imagining it. Let us know how you make out, Max, thx... ... ... . ;)

zman

Rusty, if you are in my neck of the woods, stop by, I have 3 2002s on the shelf. We'll plug one in and go drive it!

What Barry's not telling you is that it's probably 300 miles from where I live to "his neck of the woods!" :{ ;)
