Rusty- Lugging the engine then hitting it I can see how that would develop smoke. Mine shouldn't come on (stock injectors, EZ only) until 3 psi of boost, so I wouldn't expect to see the smoke sitting in my driveway nailing it in neutral/park (thanks Steve for clarifying/confirming that).

However, I wasn't seeing it under power either, I tried stomping on it at all rpm's and couldn't get it to smoke with what I believe was a 'defective' EZ. Got the new one in and my power is back, that's for sure! Haven't had a chance to try to create a smokescreen yet.

Basically my understanding was incorrect, thanks to Steve and Rusty for clearing that up. Low boost + raw fuel (lots of it) = smoke. I still can't make the thing smoke in neutral or park, getting mixed messages on whether I should be able to or not.

Rusty- Did you ever get a response to your e-mail to Edge?

Kess- You said yours was a 2000- era Edge unit. Barry posted here that there was a problem with a rash of boxes in 2000 and yours may have been defective right out of the box- might want to follow up with Edge yourself.

Blue- What about you? Get yours back? Satisfied? See my post above, the 10 days it took included 5 days (plus the weekend) that UPS had the thing in transit... ...

With stock injectors and an EZ Box you shouldn't get any smoke at all and you definately won't get any when in neutral or park. When I had the original Powermax on my truck (which is about a 60 rwhp increase, whereas the EZ is about a 40 rwhp increase) I got no smoke at all, even under load. My truck with 275 RV injectors and a hot custom Powermax3 (est 120hp increase, with the custom part being double the extra fuel with low boost and a couple of other things) I don't get smoke revving the engine up at idle. Now driving is another story entirely - if I'm at anything over 1/8th throttle I belch a cloud out at shifts and leaving the line. Anything above 1/2 throttle and it continues to smoke (just a haze) right up through redline.

Steve- You're my hero! I'm thinking of a phrase: 'You ARE your own warranty station'! :D

Now I just need to figure out how to get a job like yours so I have the kind of play cash you do! I have not yet ruled out prostituting myself for the right class of female for extra spending cash, but the little woman is not seeing it my way!

Thanks again.....

I've had mine back a week today. I'm not real happy about the turnaround but this box really works!I added my DDII's&I'm well pleased with this combo. I had to put the jumper in the lowest setting to keep down the smoke ... ..... Blue

:D Finally got a new PE Comp box back in dad's truck and all I can say is wow. I know for sure the old box we had wasn't working as we couldn't tell a difference in power levels. You can definently tell a difference in each level now and the amount of smoke in different settings. Thanks Aaron for getting this new box out to us. The only part that seems like there has to be a better way to connect is the pump wire piece. The plastic lock wouldn't stay together but I made it work and secured it tight with some electical tape. Just a question for you experts our there, would it be possible to tap the pump wire almost like the ground is attached with a ring connector and nutting it down like the stock wiring harness that plugs into the injection pump? I'm guessing that this is not possible since I have yet to see such a setup. Anyways I might be tapping into the pump wire on my new one anyways and trading boxes with my dad but he won't let me. I'd be playing with it so much I'd fry my clutch in no time. By the way how much horsepower is his truck making with the PE Comp in the 5 different levels if he has a 2001 6 speed with 275 RV injectors also.

The folks at Edge sent me a new EZ after I sent my old one in. It makes a world of difference over stock! I can put out a nice cloud of smoke with stock injectors on my truck. Thanks to the guys at Edge for taking care of my problem.
