Ah the joys of electrical schematics... I don't know why but I've often seen "red" as an interchangeable term to refer to a black wire thats "hot. " Im not sure where that comes from, but its not the first time I've seen that, and not only in autos. It's not neccessarily a typo. Its just a handy little way that "they" like to take an alright headache-causing subject and make it even more confusing.

Uhhh, yeah! Now that Daniel brings it up, my wires are like that too!

JB, I've never heard that about fuel lines. It works for vacuum leaks on a gasser real good.

thanks for the info as for the picture thing i guess i would like to post pictures of my truck i just dont know how or where... not a big deal... but i am getting worried about my truck today i set out to find a inline fuel pressure gauge to install on both sides of my fuel system... could you recomend an inline gauge. . im starting to notice a rough?low idle even on diesel now im getting worried... i think all of the extra plumbing on the veg side is causing fuel pressure to drop im not sure but its the only thing that makes sense to me, or i guess i could have air in the system... ive heard it can be hard to completely bleed the system of air... any way i would like to install inline gauges i need 0-50 psi i think... right? ahh well i need to figure this out before something bad happens. please let me know what you think.

If you don't have an electric pump, a 20-30 lb guage should be plenty. THe stock pump only puts out 7-10 when new. Get a tapped banjo bolt from Geno's Garage. It says for 24 valve trucks, but it's the same thing. Put it in where the bleeder banjo is, after the filter.

If you're not going to run the veggie, why not get rid of the extra plumbing? It sure sounds like you are sucking air though. Did you try to tighten the clamps? I would do that 1st.

On top of the page, under "site features", select "photo gallery". That's where you can upload pics. If you check the FAQs section under the "main forum directory", there should be info there if you get stuck.

thanks pete actually i filter about 100 gallons a week id fill ya up for free if your ever out this way. . i still use veggie but im freaked out right now cause i think im going to harm the engine if i continue to drive it, im pretty sure its something simple at least thats what i want to think... anyhow im gonna do some plumbing on this thing tomorow ill let you know what comes of it, and should have some pics up soon too... oh and hey i got my first issue of tdr... nice picture picture of your truck on 112. . thanks again

Thanks!

Another thought, plumb in a piece of clear tubing someplace before the IP. The easy place is just before the LP. Run the truck, look at the tubing, see if there are air bubbles. ;)

hey JB, id really like to talk with you about how you did your veggie conversion if you wouldnt mind, cause im in the process of trying to do one myself.

hey guys sorry ive been running around like crazy with work and trying to get everything i need done before my wife and i take a road trip shes been planning since... forever, anyway ive been busy with the truck too... i got my fsm and it doesnt have any information on intercooled engines... no diagrams or any mention of this in there... so i called genos and i had them ship me a 92 FSM and im gonna wait to send this one back before i look at them both... i also noticed that i have a new fuel leak more like fuel ******* out of the injection pump... i think judging by what the FSM says its leaking from the (ksg) yep off the banjo bolt i think... i talked to the shop i took my injectors to and they said ill have to replace the orings in there but not real sure. . im gonna take it to the cummins mechanic a friend refered me to cause i dont think i have the tools... anyhow i re-plumbed my fuel lines on the veg side. . nothing new to report... but i have hope... anyhow yeah ill help you in any way i can with the veg conversion as you know im not the sharpest tool but i learn from my mistakes and ive made many and my truck still sorta runs... . lol but yeah let me know what you need. . ill be glad to help... look for pictures ill be posting in the next couple days and youll get an idea of what the job will require. . you have a greater understanding of this truck and i think that youll have no problem with any of it... but filtering and dewatering oil can be a pain... i can give you some pointers on that too... just let me know...

oh yeah and im gonna try the clear tubing trick, i should have thought of that thanks pete ill let you know the results...

I did it on a 24v in an excavator at work today. It had bubbles like a sonovagun. Blue smoke, dying.

Then I remembered the clamp I put on the hose just before the LP. Cleared right up when I took that off!

well i located the leak on my injector pump... not cool, i thought it was leaking from the ksb valve. nope. turned out that it was coming from the governor pin seal!?!?!? or something like that... i guess im gonna have to pull the pump to change the seal at the very least... and i was told that the shops are seeing more of these pumps due to ulsd... anyhow im wondering what to do... any input would be appreciated i have to decide quick cause my wife is gonna kill me if we dont go on this trip... so do you think i should have the pump completely rebuilt to the tune of a grand or should i try to just have the seal replaced... i suppose i could have them install a 366 spring and turn it up while its in the shop... if i do that will it kill my drive train? i want it to run right, and i would like to have longevity with the truck cause i cant afford this much longer... lol. . seriously! anyhow im babbling take care... and let me know what you think.

Buy a seal kit and a spring from the Bosch dealer, (pump shop) and do it your self. There is a VE repair manual in PDF format floating around. I have it, but I'm not computer literate enough to figure out how to send it too you.

I know JLeonard has it, ask nicely, and he'll help you out. ;)

well pete i wish i could but it needs to be road ready this next weekend and i dont have the confidence, proper tools... or time with work and all... i wish i could and the shop im having it rebuilt at is good people i trust them and the truck is allready at the mechanics house... ill miss the money but ill make my wife happy by going on the trip... well anyhow thanks again ill keep you updated and take care.

I was a little intimidated when I did my spring. It's not so bad, if you have to do it, just take your time, notice where things go. I won't hesitate to dive in again.

I understand the time thing too.

Good luck, have fun on your trip! ;)

hey thanks pete im gonna need it, and as for the trip man i cant wait... but my pump is in the shop. . should i do the 366 spring? what will i gain by installing it? in the realms of power?... and what will happed to my fuel economy? i think i know the answer but im gonna make absolutely sure, i think there gonna tear it down tomorrow... i told them i wanted to have them install 366 spring and they told me that i should just bump it up 100rpm then turn it up 10% and not to install the spring... what do you think? i definitely want something thats reliable and doesnt tear up the drive train... but i also want to be able to pull a trailer with no worries and be able to pass on the highway... so what do you think guys?...

Have them put the spring in. It will give you more power across the whole band, and higher rpm on top end. As for fuel economy, it's all in your foot. I have found that more power is actually more economical, if you can keep your foot out of it. ;) Tear up the drivetrain? You can do that with a stock truck, if you beat the crap out of it. :-laf

It sounds like to me that they don't want to put it in. That would make me leary of them doing it at all. They might say they did, and not. You can just do it yourself after the trip, it's only about $16 for the spring, and it will have all new gaskets anyways. Easy job.

It's up to you. ;)

thanks bud im gonna talk to the shop in the morning thanks for your input ill let you know the results!... thanks again

Dittos on the spring. Not that bad to replace, just watch how it comes apart and put it back that way again. Best mod for the $$ I have done. All it does is give you more RPM range to work with. You don't have to use the higher RPM's but the ability is there if you want too.
