Fishin Guide said:So what if there is an abundant amount of electrical noise? What is the fix if that's the case?
Thanks for takign the time Paul. I have no clue what the interconnects are here. :-laf

It can be caused by a couple of things in the alt. Leaky diodes, and poor brush contact are a couple of the most common. All alternators put out a certain amount of noise. It produces a 3 phase, rectified current flow. Disconnecting it will flat line the voltage. Rather then trying to check everything in the alternator it's easier to disconnect it, and if the problem goes away, then spend the time to fix the alternator, or at least check into the "noise" more completely. Poor grounds can also cause noise when the alternator is charging.
