Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Boost gauge flutters

I recently had installed in my truck a full Banks Power pack. I have noticed an increased amount of power, but I wouldn't say that it is significant. Is it because my automatic transmission eats the majority of that power with its inherent inefficiency ? and after having it installed (an exhaust brake to) the pedal pressure required to move the pedal is allot more than stock.

Has anyone else expereienced this problem ? If I were to replace the torque converter would I see a big increase in noticable power ? How do I know that the system is producing the power that it should ? What should my boost gauge read under a full load, what does it read if it is in a stock configuration.

and lastly... . My banks exhaust break stopped working recently. The light on the switch lights up but the break does not engage. I'm thinking it is a vaccum problem, anybody have any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot the problem ?

Thanks all for your help.

As for the banks power pack, you have gained about 65 hp and that's all. Your torque converter will eat up some of that gain. By doing some transmission up grades you will see a nice improvement in performance. As for the banks E- brake I don't any experience with it. But I will say that the other brands of E- Brakes has nothing to do with pedal resistance. As far as the turbo, the stock waste gate is set at 18-21 lbs.

The banks big head actuator is set at 37lbs.

Back when I had my Powerpack I loved it (The install was fun too!) But when I did the DTT trans afterwards the truck Woke up and the power made it to the ground alot better! WOW what a difference! *NOTE: I also grenaded my stock trans when I Only had the powerpack ONLY after 100 miles. As for the pedal There should not be any increased pedal effort at all! that sounds like a cable issue if anything? As for exhaust brakes they tend to stick if not used frequently enough as I have heard soot can build up on the actuating rod.

I like the banks product (Alltho I do not use them anymore) and will say that if you upgrade injectors with the powerpack the OttoMind will defuel and actually hurt performance as the computer will predict the rise in temperature that the added fuel will produce.

I was pretty disappointed with the power increase I got from the Banks Power Pack. Even with the wastegate set at 37 lbs. , you will normally see only about 28 - 30 lbs. under full throttle. My TC from DTT really made a difference but injectors and a TTPM made the biggest difference. What the Tool Man said above is true but e-mail me at -- email address removed -- and I will tell you how to momentarily disable your Ottomind Temp. sensing.

I have the powerpack and you shouldn't have to push harder on the pedal. It does definitely feel different however, mainly due to the ottominds change in shifting patterns. Be forewarned that your trans will not take the power. Mine lasted five weeks with the powerpack hauling a camper. The engine brake will also damage the transmission without an upgrade of the valve body (I think). Use it sparingly. I to will have to have an ATS or DTT trans before I can use my RV again. :{
