Low sulfer fuel or not?

Is Amsoil 3000 Oil OK for third gen cummins?

I stopped at Wally World today to pick up some PS in the gray bottle the guy had to pull it off the shelf in the back and gave me one. At the register, They told me that they could not sell it to me because there is a major recall.

They (Wal-mart) just have rec'd the notice today to take it off the shelves.

Just the gray bottles only!

Anyone know what's brewing?

Steve

They are being returned to the manufacturer - Power Service Products - to have a sticker placed on the container indicating that the contacts are Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) compliant (they have complied for the last two years). Apparently the label requirement becomes law in June of this year. Walmart won't sell you the white bottle either if it does not have the compliance listed on the container.

Walmart could have legally sold you the product today if they so desired.

Ok, now that was a simple answer. They were still selling the white bottles so they must have been in compliance with those. But just had to send back the gray ones.

Thanks

My attempts today to purchase both the white and then the gray bottles today were met with the SELL (shouldn't it be sale?) NOT ALLOWED response on the Walmart register screen when the bottles were scanned.

A call to Power Service Products gave me the above information.

I was in the WalMart in West Valley City Utah the other day and bought both a quart size and half gallon size in the white bottle with no prob.

What day was "the other day"? The earliest problems reported in this thread regarding the sale of the Power Service products is 26 May 2006 (two reports).

StevenP reported that the white container was being sold and I mentioned that I was denied purchase of the white container - both in southern California and both on 26 May.

It's likely the action by Walmart began 26 May. It's also possible that there is already stock with the ULSD compliant label on some Walmart shelves.

I was also turned down at Wally World. There was not any white on the floor. I took a grey bottle to the register and was denied sale. Went to customer service and they checked a email that said Something was wrong with the label.

Went around the corner to Advance Auto and got a gray bottle without a problem! :)

purchased 2 bottles of PS in the white bottle today from walmart. . no questions asked. . up here in canada maybe label recall not required???

Do you mean "contents", not "contacts"? So you (they) are saying the contents are ULSD compliant but they cannot sell them until they ship the bottles across the country just to put a darned sticker on them and then ship them back. What a waste!

Steve

I meant contents, regardless of what keys my fat fingers pushed.

When I telephoned Power Service Products and asked the lady what was going on she transferred me to "the man who could answer my question ". I was told that:
  • EPA requirements will require the label
  • The white & grey bottle products have been ULSD compliant for the last two years but were not so labeled
  • The product was being returned by Walmart (a large-volume Power Service Products seller) for the required labeling

Anyone got a guess how much DIESEL was wasted reshipping the bottles nationwide rather than shipping supplemental labels to be put on at point-of-sale?? Gotta love beauracracy. There are several definitions of the acronym EPA - none of them sound very good!!
