I've cut way back on truck use and mine is pre DEF, debating on pulling the 5th wheel RV very far. Even filling up the CRV with regular is painful. o_O

I don't see local business surviving long, the restaurants are about done for. No one can afford the drive to work around here! My local Walmart has oil and DEF usually, for now anyway.

I find we are spending more on fuel/DEF than we used to spend on them, RV parks and food. We have a trip to Maine planned in the Fall that could be one of the last long trips if prices don't drop.

What is the shelf life of DEF in our tank, with diesel prices going up I see my self driving a lot less and I'm still on the original DEF that was put in the DEF tank the day I picked it up some 3 months ago...

It depends on the temp.

Filled the DEF tank today... $4.15 a gal here in NC.. not as bad as I thought I checked my logs and its really not that much higher than it was the past year, in fact it was cheaper today than it was last Aug when I filled up.

The son of a woman I plow for has some kind of connection that he gets new old stock from dealerships. When they get new, stuff on the shelf gets discarded. He bought up a few cases of Mopar anti-freeze, Rotella synthetic, gear oil, trans fluid, glass cleaner, choke cleaner, starting fluid, upholstery cleaner, etc. He asked if my truck uses DEF. I told him yes and he said next trip north he'll bring me some. He said he's got a couple pallets of it.

As I type, I was supposed to be in Idaho but cancelled. One reason the cost went from 700 to almost 1500 round trip from Phoenix. Another trip in Sept cancelled as the "experts" say its going higher rather then lower in price.

Sad to hear this but except to hear more people say the same thing, I too have cut out all non necessary travel do to high cost of food & fuel a short round trip to visit family use to cost me $35 now cost $79.00, read today that prices will keep going up the rest of the year and read that May inflation was up to 8.6% when LGB said it would go down

And thats just the official CPI number which is both open to and partially the result of data manipulation.

I prefer to use this calculator whose methodology in my opinion is more neutral then that of the BLS.

And for reference, here is a link to their methodology --

So real inflation is 10.75 that does kind of fit's with what I have seen price of just about everything up a good 10% at Costco more in places like Fred Meyer/ Kroger's, Walmart and at that rate we will be seeing a recession real soon :mad:

Same here. I thought we'd just fly but the airlines are gouging everyone now even with miles.

Glad I bought all this year's cross country flights already... Went to the lake for the weekend, put non-ethanol gas 93 in my bronco since it was the almost the same price as regular 87 (+.80cents)... 85$ in the truck , $80 in the boat, who knows how much to refill the RAM from pulling the 5er, but.. look on my son's face driving the boat on the lake..... Priceless!!. Tharrr... be whale out there sir....

I already bit the bullet and filled my 100g tank @5.30/gal.. now $6 here, so summer trips covered, but I may "top it off" as we go since I too have heard things are going to keep climbing.. But Gotta keep my camping trips for the kids, its not their fault the world is going to carp...
