I'll get some pictures in a few days, but its done... took less than an hour.
I modified my filter head... the hole dropping into the filter was only 3/8", so I augered it out to 1/2". The inlet and outlet are 3/8"NPT, so that limited the JIC fitting ID... but I don't think it will make any difference... its 1/2" throughout.
I ordered some Parker hose and fittings through Mid-Atlantic Diesel (Thanks Lloyd!). Ordered WAY TO MUCH HOSE! I needed about five feet, but order 15 for some reason? The OE hose was 15. 9mm, the Parker is 5/8" (16. 0mm) and fit like a glove... I even used the OE hose clamps since its low pressure.
The way the ports came out of the filter head, it was easiest to drill and tap the passenger frame rail under the AC compressor. It might make removing the engine oil filter a little more difficult, but not much. I tilted the head back slightly from perpendicular to better clear the oil pan with the hoses. I actually plumbed the filter between the gear box and cooler, instead of between the cooler and pump... figured the hotter fluid would pass through the filter easier. The filter is protected by the steering brace and sway bar.
I took it for a 20 mile joyride, everything seems fine... there was some air in the system to work out. Seems completely normal. I'll run it a month or so, then pull the filter and change oil again... then I'll leave it in service a while. I like the fact it adds another quart of oil to the system, and that I now have filtration.
