I have an intermittent issue that is becoming more regular and very unnerving.

When turning to the right the power will go away and a quick small turn to the left will restore the power to the right. It has never done it to the left.

Is there some valve directing the flow from the pump to the box?

I had a very similar problem with my truck. I had a rebuilt steering box in for about 6 months, then it started acting like yours, but to the left. A quick turn toward the right and back to the left would get me over the "hump". I drove that way for a while and eventually the problem got worse. It would suddenly decide to give me no power at all to the left. Then after a while it would "fix" itself. Finally it started randomly doing it in both directions. Since this was my second rebuilt box, I decided to buy a new one from the dealer. I have not had a problem since installing the new box.

I thought it was loosing power and yesterday it did it at a light and it would not move to the right at all. it was making noise like it wa on the steering stop. I only have 43,000 on the truck and it is completly stock.

How much was that steering box?

If yours is like mine was, you should still be able to turn it to the right; if you put enough musle into it.

My new steering box from the dealer was just over $400, the rebuilt NAPA units were about $170.
