Yes POWERSTROKES are better for boat anchors !!!!!!!!!!

The V8 design digs into the bottom better so it can hold the boat better.

Ford only has some stock in Cummins it doesnt own them .

Ask a Ford guy why Mack owns Navistar ???????

Why because they were cheap thats why .

Not since before the diesel wars began. Read the link at the previous post.

This is another "Furd owns Cummings" joke, right? :D

Now, someone tell me why this thread got dredged up and bumped back to life after nearly a year.

As Gary knows and cant deny it, I have one of the sweetest looking old 6. 9 diesels around, in October of this year, my truck will be 20 years old and it currently is my daily driver on my 160 mile a day roundtrip commute to work as my Acura Legend commute car died about 6 weeks ago with 350k on the clock.

My old 6. 9 isn't fast with the C6 and 4. 10 gears, but a 20 year old truck getting 1k a week put on the clock is nothing to laugh at... ... .

THE FORD GUY Oo. Oo. Oo.

You can talk all you want about your 6. 9, but in my experience with one, It couldn't pull a horse trailer with two horses up a slight hill.

Go to virtually ANY truck pull and see who wins. I am disappointed that FORD cant get to the front, for sake of competition. Round here, Duramax is the ONLY competition.

I live in a Ford town and see the following: If you drive your PS empty like a car it will get better mileage and go faster than the C. But if you actually WORK the thing, the C will outrun the PS. I don't know how much is gearing or what, but those that really work them have converted to Dodges.

I hear Navajo tractor in Farmington NM runs two trucks to TX to get tractors on a regular basis. One truck is PS the other C. On the empty run the PS is always there first, but the C gets home first. :D

Price out filters for Furd and the big "C" , in the same brand, and see how much more expensive Furd and GM are compared to Cummins to do maintenance. I know a customer who had a 2001 Dodge. He and two other couple drove their trucks and big 5vers to Mexicao from Canada and back. One Furd one Chebby and one Dodge. He said he would pass them on one hill then they would pass him on the next hill. When they stopped for fuel his was always less money. By the time they got back home he was many $$$ ahead. Everyone has their likes and dislikes. I have seen many Cummins engines transplanted into other brands of pickups. Shadrach

I just wanted to point this out. I used to drive tow trucks. I drove an FL70 with (you guessed it CDT 5. 9) This was rated as a medium duty tow truck. I would tow bobtail semi's, School busses and motorhomes all day with that, in the mountains. Frequently going in and out of Yosemite National Park. For anybody who has been there knows what the hills are like. Now this was before I bought or even thought about buying a diesel pick up. When I decided I wanted to buy a diesel pick up and I realized that that the Dodge used the same engine, well for me the decision was a no brainer!!!!

Speaking of FL70s with 5.9s......

My girlfriend works at a repair shop, and her boss upgraded his rollback from an International with a (gutless, even for a 444E) DT444E to an FL70 with a 5. 9 Cummins (~225hp). He couldnt shut up about the low end torque of the engine for a month, and then I drove it, and was neither impressed nor disappointed. Granted, it probably weighs in the low to mid teens, but it was what I had come to expect from a stock Cummins Super B- decent power and torque, but nothing like a hopped up Dodge, or even a 444NXT hauling sod on a 28ft straight truck.

ALso, the old adage- 6 in a row, built to tow.

The service truck I drive at work is a F-800, 19k loaded. Yup, 5. 9, p-pump, rated at 190 hp. It was gutless on takeoff and hills, I turned the starwheel down , then slid the plate ahead. Smokes a quite a bit more, but now it moves out pretty good! ;)

At work we received some new F-650's. the body and interior is Ford, the Transmission is an Allison and the Power is supplied by a Cummins. It is funny to take it in for warranty work, you never know where you have to end up to get it fixed. Ford cannot do warranty work on the Cummins or the Allison.

I have both the powerstroke and the new mega cab. I like both trucks both feel like they have good power but have power at different bands. The airconditioning in the dodge mega cab is a joke. No one even likes to drive the mega cab in the summer. A/c in the chevy and ford trucks are twice as good as the dodge units. The dodge airconditioner puts out half the air more noise and the air is not as cold. We love the room in the mega cab but it cant even cool itself down on a hot summer day. If you start the truck turn on the a/c let it run for about a hour and then go down the freeway on a trip the a/c is fine. The dodge truck a/c is fine if the outside air temp is below 95 degrees. We have 3 of the new mega cabs had them all in for service to check a/c all were fine said the dealer. We have a ranch in the high country so we try to keep them up there where it does not get hot. Our chevy duramax's drive the nicest and seem to probably have more power. The chevy's are very well made but are really low to the ground.

What color is the Mega Dodge? If it's dark with dark interior, it will never be as efficient as a lighter exterior and interior truck.
