Powerstroke owners are clueless

I've come to the assumption that most PSD owners bought their trucks because everyone else did. In general they know very little about their trucks most can't even tell you what gear ratio their truck has in it. Heck the first thing I did when my truck came in was pop the hood and crawl under it to make sure they actually put the heavy duty t-case in like I ordered it with. The salesman thought I was nuts he said,"Close the hood someone is going to think something is wrong with it". Forget about trying to talk egt's and boost pressure with a PSD owner if you watch their eyes you can see them glaze over cause you are talking over their head.

I think this post is a broad generalization and inaccurate. I've talked to several very knowledgeable powerstroke owners. Hey they have to be techy, their 6. blow's are breaking down all the time!!!:-laf

Perhaps I have a larger pool in my survey I stand behind my observations. Only a few PSD owners I've talked to had any useful knowledge. When I was going to order my truck I talked to several of them at the gas stations and truck stops cause I was looking at Ford and Dodge for my new truck. I chose Dodge even though my Dad worked at Ford and could have gotten me a discount.

I've met just as many clueless Dodge owners as Ford.

Think it has more to do with the people driving them than the brand they drive.

PSD owners

In my group of friends, there are 5 PSD and 2 CTD. All of these guys are pretty knowledgable about their trucks. In fact, I get tired of having to defend CTD against the onslought. I'm very confident with my truck and its abilities, but the PSD owners think their trucks are soooo much better than the CTD. Most of the time, I just smile and say nothing, because I know.

Yesterday I backed out of a parking lot in front of an oncoming PSD. Not wanting to hold anybody up I kind of stepped on it leaving a good trail of smoke. I got to the next light with the PSD still behind me and I see him holding up his finger and thumb like an L at me. I just laughed to myself. The moron didn't know power when he saw it. He was probably thinking, look at that POS Dodge making all that smoke.

I get that all the time from PSD, Maxipad, as well as CTD owners around here, but I think they get the idea, seeing all the gauges, and the 5" exhaust tip. . I still believe in



BRAND DIESEL OVER BRAND DODGE, FORD, OR CHEVROLET!

from my work, i can get the family purchase plan for gm, and the x plan for ford. nothing for dodge, but the cummins diesel engine makes up for that little setback

Better watch out! Not all green nozzles spit out diesel! Some stations have the same color for all pumps.

I ask you this if PSD owners are knowledgeable why isn't Dodge #1 in sales ? I've got a Dana 60 in the front and a Dana 80 in the rear an NV4500 in between in a 2500 you couldn't even get that in a F-350 until 1999. And I got a Cummins under the hood I can't find one advantage Ford has!!!!!!!!!!!

The fords have nicer interiors, and larger crew cabs. Power moonroof option etc. I can't stand when people have blind and absolute brand loyalty. Yes the cummins ram IMO is the best choice out there, but it's not better in every category... and FYI, my local Hess diesel pumps are RED. Green is 89 there, can't use color as a rule.

I've seen hundreds of CTD's (excluding a handfull of TDR membrs) shut down over the past 3 yrs. , ... ... loaded, empty, 5th wheels, you name it, and not ONE of them even attempted to let their turbo cool down.

Blind and absolute loyalty has nothing to do with it you can't argue witch one is more of a truck the problem is people don't want a truck to be a truck anymore. They complain it rides to rough and this and that and pretty soon you have a sissy truck.

I'm a PSD owner and I'm not clueless

I drive a PSD now and only for the full size back seat. In my defense, I had 3 Dodge/Cummins trucks before my Ford and my next truck will be a Dodge. The advantage that Ford has over Dodge is that Ford builds a better truck (I'm talking about the truck, not the motor). I know because I've owned both. If I had it my way I'd have a Cummins in my Ford. But since I don't want to go through the hassel and since Dodge finally has something that resembles a crew cab, I'm going back. There are people that drive all three brands that have no clue about what they drive.

Who's clueless?

Ran into a guy at the diesel pump this afternoon filling his 24V Dodge with straight #1 fuel.

When I asked him why he said he prefers the more expensive premium stuff.

If Ford put a Cummins in their p-ups I would be driving one of those.

A crew cab is still a crew cab.

The ONLY thing my Dodge has that is special is the engine.

The Cummins engine is reason enough to stay with what I've got.

The new common rail is not reason enough for me to go back into debt, but if I could get it in a Ford Crew Cab then maybe.

Think of it this way........

The average diesel pickup owner is pretty much clueless as far as the extra knowledge that is gain on these sites. So, if the average guy is clueless, fifty percent of the diesel crowd are dumber then average. We all know that there have been around two million Powerstrokes sold so far, so that means there is around million dumbass diesel owners running around. How could you not cross paths with them all the time?
