I've seen boxes like the Edge EZ and the Power Puck referred to as "pressure" boxes here. What "pressure" is being related to? Cylinder pressures? Injection pressure? Several searches haven't given me an answer.
I had an EZ on my rig for a few years before it crapped out and the truck ran ragged. I yanked it. Shortly afterwards, it was time for a new VP. Being that the truck is an '02, with the infamous brass sleeves, it would died early anyway. (I don't blame the EZ.) I replaced the VP years ago now and have been running ever since w/o any power upgrades. (Left the boost elbow in place though for all that's worth.
)
I've got the itch to upgrade the truck a little again. Friday I installed a 4" turbo back exhaust. After 11 years, the original system was pretty rusty. The tailpipe had rusted and fallen off. (Pretty easy except for rolling around in some left over ice/snow under the truck.) Saturday and Sunday were dedicated to replacing/rebuilding the PS pump and vacuum pump. I also tied in a PS cooler and filter at the same time. VERY long tough days for this geezer. Damn it was a lot of work.
So now I'm weighing my options as to tweek a little more power out of the rig. 275's and a boost fooler? A Smarty? Another EZ? Drivetrain is stock. I'm not looking for a race truck. Just a little more zap for pulling a 1K boat (with 5K lbs of lures in it.) Obviously, more mileage would be a plus.
So, what combo, if any, would be my best bet for increasing MPG's, if that can be forecast?
TIA!
