Had Cummins in Houston tell a friend of mine that a VP44 cost $1400. 00... ..... I was shocked:eek: That just seemed cheap from what I have heard on here. Do you think that is a new one or a reman'ed pump?

Jason

I just bought a brand new VP-44 for my HO and it was 1695. Way better than the 3200 quote the dealer gave me.

You will mostly get rebuilt pumps these days. New price is around 1600. If you can find a new one, last version (-027 part number), expect to pay around 2000. I found an 027 made in April 2002 in Germany, for example.

Last I heard they were selling new pumps for that price

Cumminspuller,

I bought mine from CumminsStuff.com. It's brand new and was only $750. 00. It has worked great for 11,000 miles now. They want your old one back so that it can be rebuilt in Germany and sold back to dealers, so there is a $250 core charge. I kept mine because it worked fine except was hard to start when hot so I'm keeping it as a spare as it's my work truck.

P. S. The owner of Cumminsstuff.com's name is 'John' and he's an older gentleman and very, very nice. He takes all credit cards but for AMEX he has to charge a couple of bucks more because they charge him. He sells to dealers all over the USA but to talk to him it sounds like he works out of his house :) Just a good 'ol Texan!

I'm in need of a new VP44 also.

My truck is throwing the PO216 timing malfunction code and is losing throttle response usually cruising at high way speed (70), when it does happens. This will be my 3rd VP 44 in 150,000 miles, I think this is a pathetic excuse for a injection pump, I monitor fuel pressures at all times with dual guages ( pre & post filter) never let pressure drop below 10 psi, and I have replaced the lift pumps at 10 psi at Idle, and also change the fuel filter at every 5000 miles, prior to getting the FASS System, darn things have never had any debris on them or in the filter canister.

I would like to know if I can put a High Output VP 44 on my 99, also I want a new VP 44 pump as the last one was a reman from the Dodge Dealer, for $900 bucks and only lasted 58,000 miles, but the stock one was'nt much better it went at 80,000 miles.

Thanks, TJ

tj, just spring for the Hot Rod VP44. I know where to get them for less than $2k. These things are suppose to be the cats meow for power and durability. Apparently tolerances are much tighter and larger plungers used. If and when mine frys I think I am going to cough up the extra for power reasons and longevity reasons.

Well Jeff, where do I get one and what makes it more reliable, I was told by Cummins that my Edge Comp was the reason for my pump failurs, but I dont believe that BS, becouse my first pump went and I was all stock then & my friend has had 2 VP 44's on his 2001 and he is all stock.

The answer is no can't do. sorry

It amazes me hearing stories how some of the VP44's on alot of trucks only lasted 50,000 or so miles. And several have had two or three by now. Others, like myself, am at 213,000 miles and still have the orginal. I wonder why some are lasting and others are dying?

CumminsPuller, how true. I guess it's just a crap shoot on how long it lasts. I wounder how many of us that have upgraded our fuel systems have made it last longer?
