What do you pay for insurance and your company?

I was just wondering what people are paying for DSL service around the country. It seems to vary some, but I was wondering by how much.

I was paying $39 a month from SBC, I had it that way for almost 4 years. They have since raised it to $49 a month. Getting a tad pricey IMHO.

At work we have 3 High speed DSL lines in place, they are $179 a piece and stream along at 760k up/3000k down. :D

I'm at work more than home and am considering dropping back to dial-up for home.

Back to dial up????

Kev, are you nuts? I have had DSL for a few years(768/128) Verizon service. At $39 or so a month and would pay three times that for the speed. My smart*ss teenager has dial up still and I get on it once in awhile(to check where he has been surfing). Using a dialup connection is like driving a Ford, painfully slow. Keep it!!!!!!Oo.

Have MSN

I'm using MSN and really like it. Costs $39. 95/mo and not a penny more (taxes, etc. ). Often they have specials where it doesn't cost anything for a modem and free hookup, that is what I did.

I have found the 256k speed fast enough for about everything except large files (ie, downloading programs) can take a little while (usually 30-40kb/sec).

I was paying $50 / month for MSN / Qwest DSL at our old house. We moved to an apt. and now I'm on dial-up because there is no high speed internet available.

Keep it or you will never be able to keep up with Doc's posts and the Amsoil threads.

How's the new camper?

New Camper is doing very well Ken:D thanks. The furnace took dump while we were in Colorado at 10,000 feet. Haven't had time to look into it.

I'd love to keep the speed, but it is getting harder to justify the $50 for the amount of time I use it at home. Course, Dial up ,f you get another line is just about as expensive.

Try http://dslreport.com. They have a pretty good price comparison.

One other note: My new 384/128 service downloads at 240 and uploads at 120. If running in both directions I get 110-120 each way. When I called them on that PacBell claims to only guarentee 128 no matter what service you purchase. I think that is a bunch of S#$%!

I guess it is time to start a false advertising letter blitz.

i pay ± $50 CDN for cable internet per month. it's ok, but when i get the cable bill that says $95 and change, that is upsetting. . think i may have to go back to basic cable, until the cable company comes out with a replaytv or tivo box type thing. that canadian sat companies have it already, now if cable can get it...

$49.95 & $59.95

Verizon DSL in Northern Virginia is $49. 95 for 768/128. I have the 1500/128 service for $59. 95.

Used to have cable modem, like the consistency and privacy of DSL...
