pricing out a 1st gen

found this 93 standard cab 4x4, cummins 5pd, with plow, 152,000. there asking $7995. dealer unfortunately. i've got a pic with some cancer spots and also appears to have a leak possibly, the oil pan was soaked. not sure though. they would drop $1000 for the plow but i'm kinda looking for one.

so do i keep looking or lowball them a price.

They're probably not asking more than twice what it's worth. Hey, it's a dealer. That's what they do. Deal. In their favor. You expect them to do you a favor?

i don't expect any favors from the dealer just wondering if i might get away with a deal. i'll keep looking, it's a little out of my price range.

On ebay every day of the week there are Cummins 1st Gens that are in great condition, most have a "Buy It Now" price, not all but there are a dozen a week on there from the 2000. 00 and up into the teens. Any truck with rust like that is 2000-5000. 00, closer to 2k unless they have recent, very recent reciepts for nearly everything mechanical.



Just my opinion.

I paid $7000 for mine , and it was in perfect condition when i bought it. Only thing was it had 240,000 miles. That cancer looks real bad, theres no way in hell i would pay that much for it. Although 152,000 mi isnt that bad

I had mine appraised for $8000 in Dec '06 and it does not look like that. It is a west coast truck bought new by me in '93. It has no rust anywhere and has never been undercoated. My neighbor just bought a '91. 5 2 wheel drive with 87,000 miles for $4500 from a dealer and it has zero rust. I would pay what they are asking if they fix all the rust and paint it - otherwise just walk - no run away.

I'd say your neighbor got a heckuva deal.



That 4x4 with rust is only worth half what they want for it. $3500 is a generous offer I think. Generally plow trucks are worked pretty good. I would count on repairs on this one.

hotram, no kidding. i had to talk to 3 people before they understood what i was talking about.

i found a couple more in a magazine. no to be a pain to keep asking but everyone is very helpful here.

1st truck

92 w350, 225,000 4x4, w/plow $5900. private seller

2nd truck

90, power wagon, 5 spd, 25,000 4x4, w/plow, $4800. dealer.

i don't know if this one is even diesel even though it says. the grill on it looks like my 87 i had. not sure what they all changed in the years.



right in my price range, but the only thing holding me back is they both are out of state for me. i will be calling both for info soon.

if you can find a godd one there worth pretty much waht the seller ask. i looked for 2 year before i found a good one. i got it sold to a guy in cali i sold it for 13000. but its got all kinds of money in it
