Can't seem to get the dipstick all the way into the tube/ sleeve on my 01' 3500. The guy I bought this truck from is a $#%$ and won't help (ebay). Chris at Relentless Diesel looked at it but had never seen this problem before. He just finished a vaccum gasket replace as well as a dual guage pillar install so he didn't much have time left to remedy the problem.
I stopped by the beloved dealer (meant with the utmost sarcasm) and service manager told me he had never seen or heard of this before. The fact that he looked all of 20 yrs old told me perhaps he hadn't been there long enough to see all the problems these trucks have. No other SM was avail to help.
I went over to the parts guy and he told me I can't just buy a new dipstick... have to buy the tube as well. Though, the dipstick doesn't look bent.
It goes in 3/4 of the way then catches on something. I have to mess with it for 5 minutes or so to finally get it past the catch, whatever that may be, and properly seated.
I will probably order the whole dipstick/ tube setup from the dealer and have Relentless install it the next time I go in for repair or mod work.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
