This is starting to drive me nuts. The lamp out indicator keeps coming on and going off (several times a second it seems like) with the accompanying annoying chime every time. This will go on for a few minutes then stop. This has happened to me a few times in the last couple weeks. The thing is it happens even during the day when i dont even have any lights on at all.

I can be just driving down the highway at noon and all of a sudden it will come one. It's killing me. Is there a relay or something that might be going bad? Please help

I believe the lamp out indicates tail/ brake lamps out too.

It may be a longshot... . Just for grins... . try checking the rear tail light and brake light filiments within the bulbs.

When working at a Chevy dealer years ago I had a car where the filiments disconnected on one side and crossed over the other circuit WITHIN the bulb! Just imagine the symptoms when turning on lights activating the other circuit and vice versa when steping on the brake!

I am a big fan of the KISS principle... . you just might have one of the filements just barely discinnecting and then re- connecting. Hey... stranger things have happened, besides- it will cost you no money to pull the lenses to check.

This is ONLY if you've purchased the truck USED.

If you did, then there might be a Fogzilla kit on your truck that automatically turns on your fog lights when you use high beam. Reason why I suggest this is that when I purchased one of their first kits from Geno's garage (4 years ago), mine would do the same thing. It was a fault that they discovered and fixed it.

If this is so, you can send it back and they should send you another kit under warranty.

Just a thought.

Have someone push the break pedal while you check the breaklights. Had this happen to me while on vacation this summer, The chime drove us nuts. Mine was the left breaklight that was bad. I pulled over in a rest area and pulled the bulb out. The light ou on the dash stayed on but the chiming stopped

I would agree with others who have suggested a bulb filament is the culprit. Had it happen to me awhile back with one of the turn signals.

The light may still illuminate, so you can't use that as a guide. If I were you, I'd probably pull one bulb at a time until I found the one that is causing it.

The bulb sockets on the rear tail lights are the culprit, my truck was doin the same thing and all the light were fine, its the the physical connection between the bulb and socket. New board from mopar which is an upgraded unit fixed it right up.

Its the filiment, Ive had it happen twice. When the chime starts turn in your turn signal L then R and see if it stops. That will tell you which one it is. I had it happen on both sides. B... ... ... .

using the turn signal doesnt make it stop, i have tried that. it also doesnt happen when i apply the brakes or anything. I can just be driving straight down the road with the cruise on and it will start doing it.

Its the sockets they become loose from heat and thats why its intermittent and repetitive because it makes and loses contact while driving. If it was burned out itd just chime once and be done.

Ok Red, I am just saying that I have solved the problem twice by replacing bulbs. The filliments were definatly broken in the bulbs i changed. Same exact symtems (last time mine started when I drove off the edge of the road onto rumble strips)

Cheapest process of elimination is 4 bulbs, 10 min. and 5 bucks.

B... ... .

I understand, but i did the whole bulb routine and bending tabs out with dielectric grease and it'd come back. So i said screw it and got the upgraded replacements for 17 bucks a piece and its been solved for 35k and counting.

Had the same exact thing happen to me last summer. Drove me crazy too! The problem was one of the tail light bulbs. I just went ahead and replaced all of them while I was at. Be sure to check the sockets for dirt. I had one socket that had a little build up in it. A piece of sand paper took care of that and I haven't had a problem since.

The chimes about drove me nuts too, seemed like every time I went to check the lights they were working. A good samaritan followed me into a parking lot one day and informed me that sometimes my left brake light wasn't working. I checked the bulb and found the filiments to be good but near the base of the filiment holder there was what looked like burn marks. Changed the bulbs and all is well now.

yesterday i was at work and the lamp out light came on for a minute. i turned all of my lights on to check which one it was and it was the headlight. it was flashing on and off and then completly came back on and the light went off. It was weird.

Chimes lite out!

One of the power strips for the rear bulbs, either left or right, mabe even

both are not making good connection with the bulb most likely the brake

lite bulb. You can adjust the the little connector with a screw driver and swap the bulbs around and it might work, I had to eventually purchase the

new strip. If you examine the brake lite bulb you will find that some of the

plastic around it has melted causing the bad connection. You can replace

the bulb or swap them around, but pull the wire connecter from the molten plastic for a better connection. Arcing causes the plastic to melt .

I wouldn't be surprised if 25% of all the '03s have this trouble.

I had the same problem. It was driving me nuts. Whenever I turned on the lights, turn signals, warning lights, and held the brake pedal down to walk around the truck everything would work. Then I would get in to drive and in a mile or so the repetitive chime would start. Finally one night I pulled into a parking lot and someone came up to ask if I knew I had a brake light out. I was so happy to have the problem identified he couldn't understand why I was thanking him so profusely just for telling me the right brake light was out.

Now, I'm having the same problem again.

It's too bad the computer monitoring the lights can't give you a code to tell you which light is causing the warning signals.
