I installed a new set of Mach 2. 4's and every time I go to drive or reverse the truck stalls on me. I bled the lines tried it with box on and off, still nothing. Stuck my DD2's back in and fixed the problem. Any ideas?

My tight torque converter would make my truck stall occasionally with winter fuel. I had super mentals. There is a reflash, might help. If it doesnt stall you can get a romp romp romp while it figures out how to idle with the big injectors.

I almost hate to suggest this, check for codes. That is one of the symptoms I was getting when my injection pump when out. I know it doesn't make sense that it goes away with the DD2's. Just a nasty thought. Good luck.

How does it idle out of gear? smooth? Have you gotten it down the road? If so how does it run once you get going?

They are Don M's injectors, it idles fine and drives normal. I am happy with how they run except it stalls when put into gear. I thought about a reflash or TPS but with the DD2's it works flawlessly.

big injectors and a tight converters will do that. I also believe that reverse has an even GREATER gear reduction so it showes up even more. Normally most trucks "Lope" when backing up but some stall. (There's a guy up this way whos truck SOMEHOW stays running when in reverse. It lopes like a big block with a cam to kill)

I do forget the fix for it and remember reading something someone posted and how it was done and the proceedure was simple dare I say.

Try a search for "Stalls in reverse"

Since you put the new edm's you might want to check fuel pressure. Mine did the same thing with stock injectors. It would die when first put into gear. After i changed the lift pump the problems went away. Now that i have a new set of edm's in it is idleing rough with the box on level 9. I'll check my fuel pressure today so i can see if it's the lift pump.

I have the FASS system, my fuel pressure is a constant 17 psi. Don is going check them out or replace them. Maybe something is wrong with them or perhaps my truck does not like too big of an injector, who knows?

My truck did the same with 275's. I got 18-015-00 RevA done and the problem went away mostly. It still happens in the winter on crappy fuel (just like Big Daddy T). If you pause in neutral on the way to drive it helps a bunch.

I have heard that the TSB Keith mentioned above fixes to problem also.

try putting it in N first and then drop it in D---for R go to N then R--it that doesn't work for R then go to N then D then R---chris

That is a lot of work to back out of a parking space. A real nightmare if you ever have to "rock" the vehicle.

I think what csutton meant was hesitate at neutral for a bit before hitting drive. Then when going to reverse, hesitate again before hitting reverse. Of course I mat have misread what he wrote.

I hope you get things worked out.

I tried going into neutral, giving it some throttle and still nothing. I think my next step is updating the computer, hopefully that works.

FWIW

I installed 2. 5's and had Dave G. 's regular triplelok convertor and all was fine. When I went with his new convertor it does exactly what 1FSTDSL'S is doing, but not everytime. I can tell it is alot tighter.

Has anyone figured our what the solution was?

Hello,

Just doing a quick search because I have the same problem. Was the solution ever found? I have the exact same symptoms but don't really want to buy an injection pump unless that is what the problem is - don't really need a $1400 spare sittign around if that doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks

You can also raise your idle slightly and it will help the problem. Slipping it into gear SLOWLY helps considerably also. Going from neutral to the gear you want helps too as Chris suggested. Some trucks seem to have this problem worse than others. Mine will only do it with Mach 6's and a 93 converter when it's hot out.
