Changed the fuel filter yesterday and noticed that the fuel was not the dark liquid I am used to. I have been running 100% cottonseed oil which is really dark colored, I noticed that the fuel was light in color alot lighter than the soybean oil I was running. Called Bobby at DFWBiodiesel and asked him what he was selling this time as B100 and he told me it was 50% soybean oil and 50% processed chicken fat. This stuff is almost the same color as RUG, nearly clear but, has a light amber tint to it. I read an article the other day where Tyson chicken was starting to sell processed chicken fat to be used as bio, they have been doing this for years according to the paper.
The exhaust still smells the same at least it does not smell like fried chicken :-laf, and it seems to flow as good as #2. The truck seems to like it, performance wise nothing has changed. I need to see what the mileage is on this stuff. Anyone else running yard bird fat?
