Welcome to the new Product Research & Development forum. We've been discussing this forum for a while and we're going to try it out and see how it goes. It may or may not continue to exist dependent on participation and how much trouble it brings. JayWm & ToolManTimTaylor have committed (maybe they should be committed ;) ) themselves to moderating this forum.

This is a forum where TDR Advertisers and TDR members can:

- Introduce "new products. " TDR Members may post information about a product that a TDR advertiser or non-advertiser has that may be of interest to our membership.

- TDR Basement Enterprises may solicit input on product ideas. Some latitude will be provided, but this is NOT the place for DIRECT SOLICITATION.

- TDR Advertisers may solicit input on product ideas.

- TDR Members are encouraged to post questions about the availability of products like, "Anybody know if there is a manufacturer out there for a stainless steel cold weather front for my 1989 Dodge?" This could be a "wish list" of sorts as well.

Notes: This forum will be strictly moderated. No pricing discussions allowed. No TTT, baiting, or cheerleading. No assaulting alternative products. This is a place for guys to discuss new product introductions, new product innovations, places to find unique products, etc. without being hand-slapped for violating the "no solicitation" rules.

This is a place for vendors and end users to connect. What it is NOT is a place for vendors or shops to hash out disputes. The same basic rules that we have been using for auto transmission threads are going to apply in this forum. If a post is about a specific product from a specific vendor there will be no posts allowed regarding competing products. Vendors (or shops) will not be allowed to post in a thread regarding a competitors products.

Now all that said enjoy the new forum - we think it will be a great addition!

Great Job!

Steve, TDR staff,

Thanks!

I truly believe that this forum will provide some very good information both to the members and the vendors.

This is a great idea, and very considerate of the TDR admin to allow 'us' to have a place more appropriate off the main threads where we can discuss ideas and potential ventures.

Thanks again TDR.

I attended the TDR funtion in Columbus In. last year and Dodge had a concept vehicle on display called the "Long Hauler". I have eagerly awaited more information on this vehicle, does anyone have an update for this truck? Is it going to make it to production anytime soon?

Here's one that may or may not start a 'warm' discussion. I am a late come again Mopar person. :) There is plenty of noise in general in ads and magazine articles about increased power. How about some noise with real hard test data about improving fuel economy? I have a 2008 short bed 4x2 crew with 6. 7 auto and 3. 7 gear that doesn't get as good mileage on the highway as my previous 2000 Ford short bed 4x4 crew with 7. 3 4R100 3. 73 axles. This is a true highway truck, that is what it was purchased for! Lots of miles at 70 mph plus with 2 to 4 people and some test equipment all totaling less than 1/2 ton over curb weight with full fuel tank. Fun to drive, rides and handles well, not near as jinky in cross winds are excellent improvements! Yes, a lot of emissions equipment has been added since 2000. And this truck has a lot less weight compared to the previous as identified on the scales, with lower rolling resistance already proven and I would hope lower wind resistance. Does anyone know where the 6. 7 gets its lowest bsfc, would love to see a fuel island map, at least a fuel fish hook? Anyone got any good ideas of how to improve the fuel economy without becoming a criminal for removing the emissions equipment? Things like best gear ratio for high speed fuel economy? Is there a tuner manufacturer out there that would entertain a system for absolute minimum fuel consumption while maintaining current torque curve, at least really close to it? Thank you.
