I am considering the Psychotty air system. Where is the bests place to order?

I bought it direct from the manufacturer, charged me $145. 00 with NO filter. A total ripoff for a piece of poorly manufactured plastic and a jaggedly cut piece of exhaust pipe that is too short and too small in diameter to do any good.

I totally agree with EMDDIESEL,

Jagged cut plastic seperating at one end and the short piece of exhaust pipe. I was Pi$$ed when I opened the box. Poor looking product for the money you spend.

I think I saw a post a while back where somebody was making something very simalar out of aluminimum, and it was around $100. 00 that would be worth it.

Your right you don't get a lot for your money... ... before I installed mine I pop rivitted the seams together with about 6 rivits on each side, used a backing washer for each pop rivit... . has worked fine since.

Good idea with the rivets, i will be trying that. I am still trying to get the Scotty to fit since i put the Amsoil BMK-15 kit in. I also have a heat shield from Jannetty Racing. It uses the exsisting studs from the factory airbox to mount it. Basically an aluminum "Wall" to keep the turbo heat from from heating up the filter. Seems to work pretty good.

WOW!!
With as many people on this sight that seems to have this air system, i thought this must be a quality system. Maybe i was wrong?
So what everyone seems to be saying is it might be better to build my own!

One thing you guys are forgetting is the amount of research and development Scott put into the Physcotty. You guys that are making your own are getting the benefit of his time spent figuring this one out. I myself am very inventive, but never would have considered cutting through the firewall. It's a lot like software, it's just a disk how come it costs $400? I am pleased with the construction and performance of my Physcotty, if the quality of the product is slipping it may be due to Scott's lack of time to spend with it due to health problems.

I'll answer my own question: I'm drawing in hot air from the engine compartment and the Psychotty air system draws in cooler air from outsided the engine compartment.

Is this the main difference?

Curious about the Jannetty "heat shield". I've looked all over their site and don't see it.

Will it still work/fit with your physcotty?

What was the cost?

Thanks... .

Like "illflem", I too am happy with the
"Psychotty" Air Filter I installed in my
truck. It has helped lower my EGT's by
about 150 degrees and I like the sound.
The quality of mine was good too.

Todd: I must commend you on your "new"
design! It looks real good! How do the
slots help the "cowl noise?" I may e-mail
you with a few more questions.

Thanks!

The aluminum one sounds nice, i would be interested in that, but the only downside to aluminum versus plastic is Aluminum conducts heat, plastic is a good insulator. The ultimate would be the aluminum version, but wrap it with aluminised foam insualtion. It wont look as nice as polished aluminum, but it will keep the inlet temps down. I just know that that big aluminum sleeve will absorb ALOT of heat from the turbo being so close. I will find some self adhesive heat refelctive insulating materail and get back to everyone.

Almost forgot, the heat shield i got from Janetty Racing is not listed on there site, i bought it while i was there. I odnt know the phone number off hand, go to www.jannettyracing.com and get there phone number and ask for the heat shield Frank makes. I paid like $35. 00 and he included metric nuts and lockwashers and the mounting holes had rubber bushing to eliminate vibration. It installs over the exsisting studs from the stock airbox. You dont need to drill any holes. It comes in satin aluminum which looks fine. You can polish it but i painted mine with BBQ black paint so it looks like it is factory. Nothing in my engine compartment is polished, so i did not want it to stand out too much. Although polishing it would reflect more heat which is better, i just settled for black. I have the Physcotty and it will fit with it installed.

Todd, Send me your info on price, availability, etc. as I am interested, especially if you got rid of some of the intake noise. I had a Pyschotty on my ETH but took it off because of the intake noise.
I emailed you but it came back saying it was the wrong address. Thanks

Sam

I purchased the Psychotty Air system and installed it after I put my DDII's in. I had a baseline set after I installed the injectors. I was very surprised that my egt's did not drop any at all. Anyone have an answer? Every post I have seen stated that their egt's dropped from 100 to 200 degrees. Yes, the system is installed correclty. I think the money was wasted and now I have a very big hole in the cowl wall.

I'm the one selling them, I was laying low to wait for Scott P. to get back to me, after seeing what I was making, to try and work something out with him to sell them as his. but he basically blew me off, and said he doesnt have time for it right now. so if you guys want them I am selling an aluminum version that will REPLACE, the other system and reuse the same filter and hole. I have also corrected the problem of the noise in the cowl created from it, by putting some slots in mine under the hood facing the fender, it is brushed aluminum finished, but can be easily polished to a mirrored finish. #ad
like mine

I know I will probably take some heat from this but let me say it again, I contacted Scott, sent him pictures, and offered to make them for him, let him sell them using his name even ship directly to the "sold to" party. He gave me the cold shoulder, said he had personal business to tend to and he didnt have time for me now. he does not have a pattent on these nor do I so "all is fair in love and war"

I guess I'm not supposed to post the price here but it is three digits long and has a 5 somewhere near the middle.
email me if interested I have pictures I can send you. or go here to see the one in my truck. #ad
