Brant, well put,I feel the same way the box is a heck of an idea, and as many of you guys out there know we are all tweeks or we would'nt belong to TDR. I too have modified my pschotty and I really enjoy the sounds and all that clean air,of course we can always improve anything but atleast we have it on our rigs and we like it. Well thats just my opion for what its worth,JDM JOE

I have had Scott's air induction installed for 8 months. I did have one side of it come apart when I got it, but when I called Scott he said that he would send me a new one in the next week. After I ask a couple of questions on what type of material it was made from, I told him that I would put it back together myself. It made such a difference that I did not feel that I needed another one and just throw the old one away.
I just completed one leg of a 1800 mile trip and the system worked great. Pulling a 25' trailer, the EGT's stayed around 635* running 70 mph.
Its great for others to come up with new ideas, but when it comes to bashing someone when they wont sell their product! And thats my $0. 02 worth. .

I took the air box to fender boot off of my filter box. I like the sound it produced. I haven't had a chance to tow and watch the egt's yet. My EZ is on the way so I will be paying attention to this matter much more closely. I have a question, however. The airflow from the front of the truck through the fender will ultimately end up back by the firewall/cowling, correct? With the stock air box boot removed, aren't you just pulling the same cool air but at a different point? With the boot gone, there is more airflow and the box should block the heat from the engine. What, if anything am I missing here?

As far as the stock air box "Blocking heat from the engine" the entire engine compartment is filled with hot air. Not only coming off the exhaust but all the air that passes through the radiatior and the oil cooler, etc ends up in the engine compartment. So, without that boot you will be sucking in hot air along with cooler air from the fender well. Its like a double edged sword, you get more air (which is good)by removing the boot, but you also get warmer air (which is not so good). Personally, i think it is still worth he advantage of more air volume so go for it.

John, my feeling has always been that Dodge installed the boot to choke the Cummins' power down so the drive train could make it though warranty. You may get a little intrusion of hot underhood air with the boot removed, if your EGTs are fine don't mess with it. If they run high you might want to seal between the airbox and fender wall. This can be done easily/cheaply with self stick thick foam seal tape like is used for canopy seals. A layer on the airbox and another on the fender will fill the gap.

After reading this post, Brant said it all. As soon as Scott is well we are supposed to hook up for coffee.

Todd, ever met Scott??? Seems like a guy on the up and up to me. . As for blowing you off I guess you now know that he is more worried about walking than competition. Every complaint about the product Scott has dealt with personally and the quality of the product is in the hands of his manufacturer. All the grief about the product and bashing/whining is why he is no longer posting here.

IMO he got off his butt, made something, did all the testing and marketing before the huge membership here, thats worth commending.

Thanks Brant for telling the whole story.

I left some bad feedback on the TDR about the Psychotty awhile back and Scott contacted me personally and took care of everything. I was really impressed, and i felt really bad for jumping so fast to criticize. I learned now that you should give everyone a chance to redeem themselves, Scott did just that. He is a good person and after seeing that he truly cares about his customers satisfaction and that his product does what he claims it will, i will continually reccomend his induction to all the Ram owners i meet. Thanks again Scott

BOY HOWDY! I really started something here, but I guess that is what this place is all about.
Thanks for all the post. I feel like in theory that this is a good idea, although it may not be perfect, but what is? The Wright brothers invented a airplane-people improved on it!

Oh! by the way. I was looking at the Diesel Injection page(dieselpage.com) the other day, and saw new ram air system for a Power Choke that looked real nice. Check it out.

well I guess if you consider stating that scott wouldnt respond to me and that he blew me off, bashing, then I am guilty. To be quite "frank" with you guys I am suprised at your reaction to me selling these. let me explain a little bit for you, I too, did the obvious quest for more/cool air and came to the same conclusion as Scott. the best air is from the cowl and it is plentiful there. so without ever laying eyes on one of his, I bought a filter, I bought the RE0860 because it was $20 cheaper and I didnt think the extra 2 inches of filter would matter. Then I made a tube for it out of aluminum. it was the first time I had ever welded on aluminum and I made mine to fit the filter I bought which was 12inches long not the same one you guys have. my tube fits into a 5" hole in the cowl that is located slightly towards the center of the truck from where the Psychotty one is. it worked great except for the Shopvac that was now stuck under the dash, so i vented it with the slots. I showed it to a few people, and they all liked it. then a few more started asking about it, then the emails came. so I posted the pictures of MINE. more people started asking about it, and wanted one for themselves, so I thought why not make them to fit the $70-80 filters you guys already have and reuse the hole too. This is when I thought I should talk to Scott, and see if he would be interested in my ideas, it was not until several emails back and forth over the period of a few weeks, with him saying he couldnt open my zip files, or the individual pictures I sent him, or his email cut off half the messages, did he tell me about his physical problems and let me off the hook. now to be accused of stealing his idea, for trying to help some people out, like myself that want their trucks to look good as well as run good...

I have to say thanks, thanks for nothing, I now see why advertisers pull out of here in short order. and not to worry his "idea" is safe agian, I will no longer make them ". "

I currently have the PAIS, and while the sound is not displeasing, it is somewhat louder than I need in the truck on long trips without a trailer. So, here is my idea. When towing the 31' trailer, I will use the Psychotty filter housing drawing from the cowl. I have Janetty's AL heatshield, and it seems to keep that area pretty cool, so I intend to normally run with the filter drawing from the side of the engine compartment. This weekend, I will make some sort of bracket that will keep the filter from just lying on fender. Hearing you guys, towing will definately occur with the PAIS, but normally, I could do with less noise.

Todd,

I have read no post in this thread or any other that accused you of stealing the idea of the air box from anyone. There is no evidence for that statement IMO.

All I simply stated was that just because someone isn't interested in producing or marketing your idea doesn't mean that you were blown off, nor does that make that individual a bad person. I felt that you arrived at you judgement of Scott prematurely and didn't want others to judge him on you're (IMO) crude statements. I would say the same if you were in his shoes and I had knowledge that you were not the person or charactor being portrayed, as I would hope others would do for me. That is what this brotherhood "should" be about, good questions, good answers, and good ideas from good people.

As for you not making your product anymore. Don't blame that on me or anyone else that has posted here. I have seen a sincere interest on this thread for your box, and if you choosae not to make them that is you decision completely.

Brant

Todd,
I don't think anyone is saying you stole it, or maybe I mis-read the posts. Competition makes the world go round and as far as I can tell there isn't a patent on any of these devices. Yours is aluminum and his is molded plastic. I think its up to the buyer to make up there mind what to purchase.
I didn't want to make any personal digs at all. I just have met Scotty a few times and was just filling in the holes.

Good luck Todd on your venture. Its an alternative and that will make both products better.
