What do y'all think about either one of these products and where did you purchase it? Am currently running a Psycotty Air Original and am ready to try something different/better. Your opinion is appreciated!

I love the Mega-Cannon! The filter flows much better than the smaller ones used in the Scotty setup. The Scotty setup does get more cool air directly to the filter though.

I had the Scotty I on my truck and then I replaced it with the Scotty II, but still using the RE-0880 K&N filter. Huge difference between the 2 as far as air flow. I know that Scott is now using the AFE filters in his units. .

Check out www.wildcatdiesel.com

I have just done some testing using a couple of differant filters. The Scotty 2 had lower Intake Air Temp (IAT) by as much as 30 deg cooler than just the open RE-0880 and the BHAF while towing a trailer loaded with sprinkler piping. The other thing I noticed was that the cool down is alot shorter running the Scotty 2. While towing for every 10 deg increase in IAT there is a 100 deg higher EGTs.

The Scotty 2 dropped IAT 5 deg over the Scotty 1. That is about the same increase I get running the A/C, so the new Scotty allow me to run the A/C while keeping my IAT and EGTs the same as if the A/C is off.

The Scotty 2 is more than just a 2nd inlet, it is also alot bigger in diameter allowing more air to enter the cowl inlet and there is this really cool cone Scotty has come up with that goes over the front of the filter to smooth out the air flow.

The Scotty 2 has lowered my EGTs better than anything else yet. I have never ran the Mega- Cannon but I have seen a bunch of them and while they have a shield it in no ways seals out the hot under hood air like the Scotty 2.

Ok, i have the original Scotty air system on my 01' and it works great. This was the first i heard of a "Scotty 2" system and i just checked it out. Seems like a nice improvement. But is the price of $269. 00 at Wildcat for real, or is that some kind of retail price nobody pays?, Please tell me that it can be bought for alot less then that?.

The original Scotty was expensive enough for a flimsy piece of plastic (Before anybody says anything, Scott told me i could send it back and he would send me a new one since the one i got had the seam seperate. Scott is a great guy, and so is his invention). It also came with HORRIBLE photocopied directions that were completley illegible.

Regardless, i DO understand that it cost alot to design and develop a product but $269. 00 is insane for a piece of plastic and it does'nt even come with a filter!. Am i only the only one who finds the price high?. If you sell 20 at only $250. 00 thats $5,000, i am not a product designer but i would think in selling 20 units or less you would have recouped your investment for the design and manufacture of the molds required to produce it?. The materials are nothing, and there is ZERO hardware required to assemble it, not even one screw. Mine was so poorly made it fell apart while i was installing it. After your investment is recovered, what does it cost to make one, $20. 00??. I am not telling anyone how to run there buissness, but why is it that every airfilter setup made for a Cummins so overpriced?, AFE's system is also overpriced but at least you get an air filter with it. Its like all these companies figure if you can afford a Cummins, you can afford $270. 00 for a filter box.

I have a freind who designed an electronic valve circuit and he got it put on paper by an engineer, patented and has a company make them for him and his total investment was less then 12k, and thats for an electronic device!. Tell me there are distributors who sell it in the neighboorhood of $150. 00 (And even that is pricey).

Sorry to vent, but i am just disgusted with the fact that all these airfilter companies are getting out of hand on prices. I talked to somebody at PDQ about there filter setup and of course i got the "All those other companies inductions are junk, ours is the best" Right, your $270. 00 piece of sheetmetal does a MUCH better job of holding an airfilter (That most of these induction companies dont even make!) then all these other guys. The truth is, if and when i shell out that much money for a "House" for my RE-0880 i am buying a Scotty 2, that seems to me the best setup and would get the coolest air from outside the engine compartment. Am i the only one?? Just my 2c

Has anyone tried an open element airfilter with pvc pipe? Sheet metal wouldn't be too hard to bend. After bending the sheetmetal wrap the rough edges with door trim sold at Pep Boys. Should be much cheaper than anyone else.

It looks like they are giving a Canadian dollar price. If you use the exchange ratio they have on other products, it works out to $165 US. I had the same problem with mine splitting and it's being held together with 3 big tie wraps. It's nice to see you back EMD!

I wondered about the canadian exchange rate issue but i clicked "American Prices" and it said the same $269. 00.

$169. 00 would be alot more reasonable, but even then, it should come with the filter.

www.citydiesel.net/catalog/dodge/scottyair.htm has em for a good price... and I am fairly sure that Wildcats price is in Canadan $$ eh. 300 Cdn is 200 US so its not a bad deal.

My question has alwasy been how does it compare to say a BHAF for air flow?? and how much egt drop when not towing.

The other thing to remember is that the new AFE filter for the Scotty system is not cheap... .

Really all I am waiting for is him to offer red ones... .

OK, City Diesel is priced right, $149. 00 for the kit is a very reasonable price. I am going to order it monday. Does anybody know if the Scotty 2 will accept the K&N RE-0880???

The Scotty 2 will still except the RE-0880 filter. The reason Scotty went with the AFE filter is it is a better built filter. I actually collapsed a RE-0880 filter early on when I sealed the back side of the old Scotty 1 off. I ran the AFE filter with it sealed off for more than a year and it is just fine.

I ran the BHAF just long enough to tell that I didn't like the hot air it was taking into my turbo. I'll bet the AFE/K&N RE-0880 will out flow the BHAF.

AS Scotty says the Scotty Air 2 SUCKs alot of cool AIR!!!!

PSST, Hey EMD...

Emd, you do know that the people who started AFE were long time K&N employees who left to do there own thing. The folks at AFE probably designed and made your RE-0880:eek:

As far as price goes how much does a Windows OS disc cost Microsoft, maybe a nickel? And they sell millions. I feel Scott's price is fair, after all he has to make some money too.

I've thought of buying a Scotty II just so I can hook the side inlet up next to the turbo to get some hot air. Montana air is too cold much of the time.

I em thinking about Scotty II, but how loud the are, if you don't cut hole in cowl ? Wildcat Diesel have good price on them. Ohh, by the way I called them yesterday, they are out of 275 injectors. I need to wait another month, before they get them. Look like lot of CTD owners are upgrading.

Scotty had some quality control issues with his original product as he doesn't hand build them in his basement.

The new series are much better in fit, finish and construction. Just seeing his newest line is a fresh change.

EMD, if you are really that unhappy with it, then talk directly to Scotty... He is not here to bait and switch ya, you guys can work something out rather than bash his product if you got a lemon.

Results for a stock or unloaded truck are going to be not as noticable. This product was Not designed for the grocery getters. This is for modified or heavy haul trucks that have problems with EGTS under load.

Carefully read the instructions, Yes they are in color on the web ya know... with pictures even!!!!!

Rod at WildCat Diesel is the distributor for the Scotty II.

If you dont cut the hole in the cowl, and it only breaths thru the factory hole, how is it any better that a stock airbox. Seems like just running a K&N or AFE in the stock box would be about the same. What I missing?

Flow area... The cone is much better at flowing higher volumes of air than the old brick... Not to mention the seal on the cone is 10X better than the lid on the box as most have complained about the K&N filters lately.
