looking to hook up mile marker 10500 hyd. to a pto having not due this before any help will be thanked

It will get expensive, you will need a PTO unit. Then an hydraulic power unit and tank and hoses. I wouldn't be surprised that you will have close to $500 in the PTO and Pump. Then some way to control the PTO and the hoses. It will add up fast, sure you don't want to spend the same for a GOOD QUALITY electric winch?

Why are you going the PTO route, my milemarker works off the power steering pump. On the 2006 you replace 2 power steering hoses and a little wiring, and you are done, Works great, use it all the time to load civil war cannons back on their trailers when the batteries on the electric winches decide they have had enough.

I understand more power( there are 12-15,000 lb electric winches) but how would electric take up underhood space?

no it would not. electric winches do not have a long life. i plan on using mine as lift motor. to lift rocks out of a filled dug well and lift of a gin pole

I believe the Mile Marker hydraulic is a Chinese winch, it will not last if it is.
