They are constructing a new building across from my office. One of the semi-trucks loaded with a few prefabricated concrete walls got stuck on the site with the recent snow. I watched him try to get free for about an hour. They even hooked up a half ton chevy and tried to pull him out but the chevy didn't even budge it (It just 4-wheel bunny-hopped for a while). Finally I went over and offered to pull him out. The driver was skeptical (so was I, to be honest) but I gave it a whirl anyway.

Put my truck in 4 low, 1st gear, and walked him right out! My tires slipped a few times but they didn't hop.

Anyway, the driver was thankful, and I got a few good pictures and some bragging rights since the rest of the guys in my office drive Fords!

That's a picture for the office or shop wall, have tough truck and tow strap, now where do you want it delivered?

The driver told me that if I ever needed any concrete products, to let him know. Unfortunately, I don't. I just did it for bragging rights since not one guy in my office with their big bad Fords even contemplated giving him a pull.

Having the pictures to prove it is gratuity enough!

EXCELLENT!! NICE WORK! That is a real life version of that new (staged & phoney) Super Duty television ad where the Ford backs up pulling a stuck tractor trailer out of a tunnel. You are THE MAN.

Knew I bought the right truck!

nicely done sir nicely done. we've had a precast truck much like that one stuck on our lot and it takes a lot outta the articulating front end loader to pull her free. NICE JOB

Ya got to love it, I had a similar thing about 6 years ago with my 99. the truck driver wouldn't listen to me and ended up off the road in some nice slick mud. so I drove around him thru the mud then hooked up in 4lo spun just a little to clean the mud off but it cam right out, Just no pics :(

Not that I'm a Ford fan, but they have a similar advertisement going right now with a black 3500 pulling a stuck semi out from under a tunnel to let an ambulance pass. It was nice to see a bit of realism in the fact they showed the truck spinning all fours in reverse, plus the truck spinning to move.

Regarding your post. . Truck brands aside. . the driver of your truck deserves a compliment as well. In a selfish world, this is proof that good people willing to lend a hand still exist. Good for you!!!

Of course, what they didn't show was the damage done to the ring gears by running maximum torque in reverse like that. The tow hooks in front of the vehicle are for recovering that vehicle, not for pulling out others.

I cringe every time I see that commercial.

Thanks for the compliments. I thought I'd get a few comments on this post.

johncameron, The chevy owner who tried first was still there (it was the foreman for the job I think).

The best photo would have been one of my coworkers failing to pull him with their ford and then me pulling him out after their failed attempt! Not that I'm totally against Ford, I just like rubbing it in since I'm out numbered where I work.

To be honest, I'm just glad that our trucks perform the way they are advertised. The Dodge Cummins may not be the fastest or the prettiest, but in my experience (this is not the first big truck I've pulled out of trouble) they have a heck of a lot of torque and power and are a very capable heavy duty truck. That's exactly what I use it for on a regular basis; a heavy duty work truck to transport myself and equipment.

I've owned them all (Big 3) and to me Dodge has proven to be the best all around "truck" IMO. I'm sure other's will agree.
