New Way (NuWa) of Selling New RVs

We are on the road with another couple , both of us have 5th wheel trailers, my friend has a almost new 16k Pullrite Superglide in his truck, mine is not a slider so I don't have any experience with what he has. The problem is when you start or stop it clunks. He had it installed at a Camping World about 6 months ago, and has towed it a half dozen times. Problem two is what is the real concern, they back up to un hook the trailer, and the pull handle won't release the pin. I haven't watched what he is doing, but this doesn't sound right. I suspect it's the operator, or maybe the hitch isn't adjusted correctly, is the Superglide knowen for these problems ?, any ideas would be helpfull, thanks Ron

I would suspect adjustment for the clunk issue. As for the release issue it could be operator error dunno. Only time my handle won't pull is if I didn't unload the pressure on it enough.

Come to think of it. . if you are on flat ground with the hitch mis-adjusted you could get this scenario:

Driver backs to unload the weight so he can pull the lever but when he stops the slop in the misadjusted hitch allows the RV to slide back and "reload" the weight maybe.

Sometimes I will put the trailer brake on and just put it in reverse is all thats needed with no accelerator at all.

I would call Pullrite about this for sure though Toll Free 877-PULLRITE

There's an adjustment on the back side (toward the cab) that snubs up a nylon block on the cam, if it's not adjusted snug then it will clunk as the slack is taken up or released. The adjustment is simple. loosen the lock on the bolt, tighten the bold and then retighten the lock nut. I tighten the bolt finger tight plus 1/4 turn. and that seems to work well. I have the 18,000 hitch and pull a Forrest River 30 ft. Wildcat bunkhouse.

Thanks for the tips, the disconnecting problem has been resolved, operator error, it works fine now, as far as the clunk, the block is tight, but it looks like this may just be slop in all the moving parts on the hitch, He says the clunk happens on takeoff, or breaking, never having owned a slider, this may be normal, my non slider with Mor/ride is clunk free.

I had an 03 Dodge with a Pull Rite automatic slider on a short bed truck. I then went to a dually Dodge with a nonslider Pull Rite hitch. There was definitely more "slop" and clunk in the slider than there is in the fixed hitch in the dually. My guess is the clunk is normal for that hitch considering the way it is built. Make sure all the attachments are tight.

WHazlewood is right that there is a adjustment on the front of hitch that is suppose to be adjusted to eliminating "clunking". Adjust empty by loosing the jam nut and turning the screw until it just touches, then turn 1/2 turn and tighten jam nut. Do not try to overtighten this adjustment. The instructions that came with the hitch tells your friend how to do this along with lubeing the way tubes. If he doesn't have the instructions as they weren't given to him or lost them, go to the PullRight site and they are in Adobe for him to print. Hope this helps.
