My elderly folks are going to permanently park a 5th wheel trailer on my property to use as a summer home starting this spring. Does any company make some kind of sewage pump that can pump the RV sewage to my septic tank? The trailer will be parked slightly downhill from the elevation of my septic tank (about 4 feet lower). I have a portable sewage tank on wheels that my dad has used in the past to dump the sewage from their motorhome (they will be selling their motorhome and switching to a new trailer because their RV driving days are over). The portable tank works okay, but my dad has a bad back and it's kind of a hassle. I'd like to install some kind of pump and dig a trench and lay a pipe to the septic tank, if there is such a thing. I know they make pumps for basement toilets, but I'm looking for something that is designed for outdoor use. Any ideas?

Thanks, Andy

I am pretty sure Camping World sells an errator-type of pump just for this operation. I believe it hooks up to the outlet (dump) pipe and you turn on the pump and it pumps it to where you want it. I hope this helps to get you in the right direction.

Look either online or in the catalog of Northern Tool.com. They have a huge selection of many different types of pumps. A phone call to their support line might help you decide which one to get. good luck.

Check with your local plumbing supply store. You can purchase a kit which will include the sump basin, pump, float switch, alarm system, and a way to vent it. Then you will need to dig a hole about 3' in diameter and 3'-4' deep to set it in and plumb it in to the septic tank and trailer and provide power.

I would suggest the maceater pump attached to the blue tank( they have ones that fit on the sewer connection)

That way If ( WHEN:, IT WILL HAPPEN ) the maceator pump gets bound up, you have a back up plan , also it is easier to unhook
the pump without a big mess... If you hook it to the RV and open gate, there is a mess getting the pump off to work on...
especially if long distance from gate to outlet

Problems I have had with Maceater pumps:
Do not drop any , olive pits, peblies , or other hard stuff:
jams the blades,
Toilet paper , when folded , rolls into little balls and jams pump. Some paper worse than others...
Need lot;s of water, won't draw solids into pump when they get hard... .

(one problem with Stationary use, no movement of RV to slosh
the contents into sludge )

If long term use, a small in ground tank with a " Septic" tank type pump may be a better option

Most home improvement stores offer a plastic box designed to go in the floor of a basement that houses a pump and fittings... .

Sewage from the toilets, and showers etc flows into the box and a float starts and stops the pump and the size is based on the GPM flow of your water system... the one I installed in my basement has a lift of 5 ft...

Its a water tight and air tight box when installed correctly... mines 6-8 years old and has worked fine and is designed to meet codes...

When the house next door was build they put the septic tank a little lower than the house and use a pump on the outlet of the septic tank to pump uphill quite a ways to the leach field. If you do it that way the pump will not have to pump raw sewage up hill to your septic tank and the load on your septi tank will be less.

I just installed [last year] a pump system for my shop . . it pumps 100' elevation and about 300 yards to my home septic... let's just say it wern't cheep LOL so to answer your question only $$ determin what can and can not be done :)

When I built our old house, I installed a "sewage ejector pump" (what a plumber friend called it) in our basement for a basement bathroom-- Sealed sump with float switch and trash pump. It worked very well.

Sewer pump

I have a Flo Jet rv waste pump from Camping World and it really works well. I use it when I stay at my Kid's for 3 or 4 weeks. We use RV paper and the Flo Jet grinds it up and pumps it out through a 3/4" garden hose. You don't want to put any sanitary wipes in the tank, it will not chew them up. I use a clear fitting ahead of the pump, then you can tell when things are cleaned up. If you have along way from your valve to where your hose hooks on, you might want to get a flush king valve to put on the end and hook the pump to that. That way if you do have problems you don't have a big mess. I've had my Flo Jet for 3 or 4 years with no problems. I am very pleased with it.

I agree on the SEwer Solution. I have used it for four years now with NO problems. Not sure about the elevation needed in your case . For around $119. 00 it is worth the try. Good Luck

The "sewer ejection pump" is a commercial product for 1 toilet to entire cities. I hate having something that can not be repaired easily because it will break eventually.

That is the way I think I am going. Commercial sewer ejection pump in a bucket.

EDIT

After much research I went with the Jabsco 18690-0010 pump (120v, 3" inlet, 1" outlet) and the Sani-Con 3" x 24" Inlet Hose SKU 70421. The 1" x 50' hose I'll get at Tractor Supply. This was much easier than engineering a whole system with the commercial ejection pump.

Hwyman, Hope that hose is not used for anything else and it discharges into a septic or sewer system.

Years ago my cousin in a dry hot ag area had a failing septic system. So he just tossed a sump pump in to his septic tank with a green garden hose for a discharge which he would move around on his lawn. One hot day his wife looked out the window to see the mailman taking a drink from this hose running on the nice green lawn. Everyone Please be careful with grey and black water, potential health issues lots of pathogens can be in both.

camping world, bought ours for around $200 on sale, have a 100'x 3/4" garden hose to run it to my cleanout. pump comes with carry case, stuff the hose in plastic tub. works great, just ensure the pump impeller is wet/free/will spin before you pull the black tank valve (tends to stick, just dump a little gray water in it first or you might blow a fuse)

happy dumping!
