Another Bypass Question... !

I've been reviewing the past threads about bypass oil filters, and was heavily leaning towards the FS 2500 just because of the "built overkill and works well" general feelings that I got about the system. Of course, I checked out the Frantz (if I understand correctly, this may have too frequent of filter changes required for what I'm wanting) and the Amsoil units.

Question: Anyone running a Puradyn on the 04. 5 and up trucks? I have an 05 and really want to take care of the oil since we've got the extra injection events... .

I have PM'ed a couple of people, but would REALLY appreciate any input or help (good OR bad) about this filter system. THANKS in advance!

I responded to your PM. I don't believe there is a better unit out there than the Puradyn. They don't use toilet paper or paper towels to filter. When using oil analysis we have the filter element changes out to 20,000 miles on the pickups and nearly that on the OTR trucks. There is no better proof than looking at the oil pan and bearings on a 500,000 mile 8. 3 and seeing the oil pan completely clean and the bearings showing little to no wear (polished enough to see yourself in the curve) and knowing that the oil had been in the motor for 470,000 miles.

Bill,

Thanks for the info! I have just a few more questions if you don't mind...

As I understand it, the only "downside" is that the user must fabricate up his or her own hoses to use the system. I plan on calling Puradyn on Monday for their recommendation, but I was wondering (1) what you used for hose? I have heard that the stainless outer coated lines last quite a bit longer than the regular hydraulic lines.

(2) Also, do you have a part number for the oil drain bolt/return line fitting (from Puradyn) that you're using?? I am wondering if it introduces any potential to get snagged or drug against something on the under side of the truck, as I frequently have my truck off road (and occasionally in some hairy situations!).

Lastly, (3) what model/unit do you recommend using on the Dodge trucks? I have access to a TF12 and a 24.

Thanks for all of the detailed info in the PM. I was a little hesitant to go with Puradyn at first (surely that extra heating element raising the temp of the oil can't be good on the thermal breakdown of the oil... !?), but I have found them to be very reasonably priced. I will be purchasing the Puradyn unit soon!
