Purchased a new 2500 5.9 in 06 and had it for 5yr 100k miles and loved it. Decided to go with gas past 10+yrs and currently have a 2020 2500 with 6.4. Looking to trade it in with 75k miles and thinking of going back to diesel. I do tow throughout year but nothing over 6k. Miss the torque of the diesel.
There are deals out there with over 10K off new diesels. My main concern is some of the issues with lifters/cam? If good maintenance is performed is this much of an issue to worry about? I only put 15-20K a year on and dont want cam/lifters going out at 5+yrs and 105k miles. THX

There are some great deals on the 2024 trucks in my area. Almost made me tempt to buy one.

However, I just extended the warranty on my EcoD for another 7 years for a very, very good price with a $50 deductible.

The money I'm saving for a new truck will go into some high yield accounts... make that money work for 7 years......

I've always operated under the assumption that a paid off vehicle that is in good condition and more or less trouble free and does what I need it to
is preferable to venturing into the unknown and putting on a pair of debt handcuffs .. same applies to paying cash if possible..
if I can get enough cash in a investment vehicle that earns enough to make payments, why use up the cash.. at a certain point money becomes self replicating.

Have you considered a '25? Way more money but way more truck.

My '21 is 4 years old but only 49k miles, no issues at all. I don't worry about the lifters. This guy is a hot shot trucker, clip from his sig.

" Placed into official commercial service on June 2nd, 2022. Currently : 332,638 miles, 855 idle hours, and 5,733 drive hours as of April 27th, 2025 (Average Miles Per Hour = 58.0)"
