I don't think you need a pusher pump if your lift pump is mounted back by the fuel tank. The orginal problem is that the lift pump is not designed to suck fuel the distince required from the tank to its "factory" location. These pumps push better then they suck.
By mounting it by the tank you have removed the suction side problem.
Both pumps I have had fail were the pressure regulator valve going bad, both still pumped, but had real low pressure. Moving the pump to the back will not correct this problem.
The parts manager at Cummins last week said this new revision pump seems to be working, his lift pump sales is way down from last year!
