I am having shifting problems with this 48re . it has been starting off in 3rd gear most of the time since I installed a bd valve body. now that the temps have dropped below 35* it will shift normally until the trans fluid warms up then its back starting in 3rd. It seems to be my luck, I try to improve things and it just gets worse. Anyway any help, suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Gov pressure transducer and solenoid are the usual culprits in this scenario.

Have you changed them?

Yup , replaced the solenoid with the upgraded borgwarner and a new transducer. went ahead and ordered the gm style solenoid, transducer ,tc solenoids and wiring harness . plan on putting that in next week, just trying to figure out what I,m missing.

Thanks for taking time Cerberusiam.

Pull the output shaft speed sensor and clean it off. Probably need a new one of them also as they can get bad with age.

gorend transmission said something about the gm style part fails or doesn't work to well. i bought a oem replacement and mine straightened out.

The OE part fails quite frequently as does the transducer. The GM solenoid is a Borg Warner also and adjustable. It is massive compared to the OE and almost never have a problem in the GM transmissions.

As long as your VB is setup correctly you should notice no difference with the GM conversion, except crisp predictable shifts and lack of shuttle.

The solenoids for OD and TC lockup rarely if ever fail and are not used in any of the 1-2 shifting. The biggest problem is the harness that can crack and let oil contaminate the the connection causing issues.
