No BD VB for 2001??????

I was looking the parts over for the installition of my Isspro gauges and the pyro probe they sent looks too long. Just by eyeballing it where it will go 2 in. from the turbo it looks like I might have to drill through both sides of the manifold just to keep the end from touching. Just kidding!!
I measured it and it's 2 3/4 long and you can figure 3 in. once you get the brass bushing screwed in. Maybe i'm being parinoid. Any suggestions?

Before you tighten the the retaining nut, the probe tip is adjustable. In other words, you tap the hole, put in the ferule nut into the manifold, put the bushing in, slide the tip in as deep as you want it and tighten the nut that holds the tip in the ferule nut. The probe doesn't have to go all the way in as you must be thinking. The bushing seals the probe wherever you stop. Once the bushing seats on the tip and is snugged up, it doesn't come apart to easily, so get it where you want it before you tighten everthing down.

After you drill the hole, slide the probe in till it touches bottom, then back it out a little, about 1/4" , that's where you want it, then tighten down the ferrule. I did pretty much the same as Alan describes, can't get a better description than that !
 
You want the tip of the thermocouple NO deeper than 50% of the depth of the exhaust runner.
