Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Engine angle question

Got a set of used DDP2's and am getting ready to throw them in, but a couple questions first.

1. Do I have to use new sealing washers and who has the thin ones?

2. When cleaning out the holes in the head, how do you keep junk from falling in the cylinder?

3. The new to me injectors have about 10K on them with some crust in the tips. Do I need to clean them off? If so what do I use? Will a gun cleaning brush work (can I damage them)? Should I fully disassemble them and clean the injectors or just throw them in?

Thanks,

Jamie

1. Yes, always use new washers. Get a injector install kit, comes with new washers and banjo sealing washers.

2. I would use a long air nozzle, small, and insert in the nozzle bore and blow out the debris after cleaning.

3. 10k? I would not be concerned with the residue on the tips with that low mileage. I run the same sticks, and you will probably like them. Watch the egt's, but with your mods I'm sure you are aware of that.

OK... I wanna know some suggestions, too. Early 98 12-valve, originally with automatic. Stock turbo, still nice and tight. Transplanted a G56 and a 13" South Bend single-disc clutch.
I've had BD's "off road only" plate and RV injectors since summer of 2000. (whatever those 11-year-old specs were). Dyno'd a modest 254RWHP a long time ago, which was still enough to thrash the slush box 3times, hence, the manual modification.

Nice setup, but, I've got a couple of leaking injectors, so might as well upgrade.

What would be a good injector? Would like to bump up into the 300-350 range, but don't want to get new turbo. If that's not really practical, I need to know. I'm about to move from South Texas to Northern Utah, and don't want to write a $2000 shop-labor check.

Got boost/pyro for monitoring, BTW, and haven't towed with the new transmission. Dead-heading, I get 30 PSI and pyro stays below 900post-turbo almost all the time.

OK got a new washer set, but it only came with the thick washers. What am I looking at if I don't use new washers and reuse the ones that the injectors came with?

I will use the new headphone shaped washers on the return lines.

Jamie

Get yourself an injector install kit. It will come with all three thickness of washers plus the horseshoes for the return. CHEAP!!

the thick washers should be fine with the ddp's as they are for the truck pistons, they don't have the wider spray pattern of the marine sticks that you are trying to get further into the smaller truck chambers
