I took my 2004.5 back to the shop that rebuilt the 5.9 earlier this year, for a leaky oil-drain tube & heater hose and while they had it I told them to install a new MM3 from Smarty and a Quad boost-fooler. I'm using the engine & trans tunes from Diesel Camper (Rob). Got the truck back and everything is good. Much better shift points on the new BD trans (the 2-3 shuttle-shifts are gone) and the 5.9 Cummins has come-alive! The question I have is about the 'boost-fooler'. The MM3 shows boost-pressures maxing out at 25psi. Quad says the psi's should top out well into the 30's with the BF in-place. Before I head back to the shop to have their tech's look at the BF, I'd like some input from others who have experience in this arena. Could the MM3 gauge be reading 'low' due to the BF being installed? Should I run a mechanical boost-gauge into the cab for a 2nd-monitor? Thoughts?
