2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Quad Cab replacement glass

OK, need some help here... on my way to the airport Tuesday morning, left the truck running, closed the door and came back to find it locked :-(



So, easiest and most efficient method of getting in was to pop out the passenger rear window... BANG, shatter, glass everywhere... now looking to find a replacement, and can't find any posts of others that have done it. Any ideas? Would prefer to avoid Stealers, and it does appear 2nd gen QC's are difficult to find in junk yards...

in the future... the best way is to bust a door glass... cheap at any junkyard or glass shop, easy to replace, etc.

A better solution is to hide a key somewhere outside.

You can pull the door away from the jamb and slide in a coat hanger to pull the door unlock button. That's how my brother gets into my truck.

Thanks for all the tips guys, but the point is my glass is already broken... as in a million pieces. I'm looking for options to replace it, and for input from those who've done so. Haven't seen a post regarding a good source, and I cringe at the thought of how much the dealer will want for one...

Too bad your not closer. I'm replacing the right rear door on my truck & have a perfect tinted glass sitting here.

Go on line to LMC truck, they have glass in there cataloge.

I would call the dealer and some local glass shops. Just remember for future reference: the front door glass is always cheaper.



I knew someone years ago, who had a Lincoln Continental. You remember, they had that little vent like window in the corner of the front doors, but they didn't flip like the old fashion vent windows. They actually roll down. Don't break one of those. They're more expensive than a windshield.



I hide a key on both the 1990 and '95. I once locked my keys in the '95 at the airport terminal, where you drop off passengers. It was at Washington National Airport (Reagan National), and it's a good thing I had that hidden key.

Here in northern KY we have a place called u-pull-and save. There are always several 2nd gen's available and the glass you need cost very little, they figure with the public going out and pulling their own parts the glass won't survive anyway.
