Hi Guys, My driver side quad door won't open from the inside door handle. I remember someone posted the fix on this a long time ago and I'm getting old and my memory is getting like a powerstroke--cavitated. anyone know what the fix is? Thanks,

Lou, I had the same thing happen to my passenger side quad door. There is a cable that connects the inside door handle to the door jamb handle. I pulled the door jamb handle out by removing the two torx screws. On the back of the door jamb handle you will see a bracket that the cable attaches. The cable has a plastic sleeve on the end where the cable goes into the bracket. On my truck the plastic sleeve broke causing slack in the cable. I was able to unbolt the latch rods from the the handle and remove the cable as well. I then drilled several small holes in each large end of the plastic shield. Then I used small pieces of wire to tie the plastic sleeve back together. I used a plastic wire tie to secure the cable back to the handle bracket. I rebolted the latch rods to the handle and reinstalled. Everything works. The only other alternative is remove the door panel and replace the cable. Be careful you don't drop the latch rod bolt down the door, and be careful you don't bend or damage the latch rods. Also watch the spring on the handle. You may want to put tape around the handle to prevent any scratches. I hope this helps. This fix cost me nothing. Good luck, -Glen Pratt

lou , did it progressively get worse or did it fail all together ? mine went bad slowly and when i saw the post about inside breakage i assumed the worst and took it in before it wouldn't open at all , the fix was to spray penetrating oil in it and then some lube , do you have mudflaps ? even if you do they may not protect back far enough , the spray off the front tire hits the rocker right about the point of the rear door latch , i didn't put flaps on mine right away where the 98 QC i had i put them on before the winter and had no problems , try lubing that area first to see if it frees it up , but it could have froze and then that is what breaks the cable ...

Thanks for the reply guys. It happened all at once Mopar. I do have flaps on and the latch was not hard to open previously. I think the problem might be my kids, they like to break ball bearings for fun. I'm gonna take the latch off like Glen said and see if the cable is still there. Thanks again
