Has anybody here tried out this box yet? If you have, what do you think?

I think that in a short amount of time the Adrenaline is gonna be the new dyno king for 2nd gens. I have the production tune in my truck & it is as strong as my Drag comp already & quad hasn't started releasing the competition programs yet. It is suppose to be 180hp right out the box... . I bet he gets more!!! Options include a oil temperature reading for transmission or engine, Turbo timer, high idle, boost readings, egts, defueling set at 1250*, fuel pressure readings & some more stuff that I can't mention at this time. SURPRISE comes later!!!!

Can you at least say if it will work with the commander? I understand that everything else must be kept under wraps. I will admit that this one really has my interest.

The recon monitor is available right now, this is what I have. The commander is going to be available at release. If anyone is going to preorder the Adrenaline call Advanced Diesel Technology 304-864-3399. SmokinDiesel.com Home check it out. He is taking orders & has a great price listed on line, usually will beat competitors also. Doug is a great guy to deal with & very knowledgeable. Tell him that Jamie sent you down.

This will be a good product for those who want the adustability of a box like an FMS for a cheaper price, but as far as more RPM etc, don't get to attached to the idea that this box will spin a 24v like a modded 12v... ... the VP just wont do it. As far as power, the results I have seen show this box on par with a drag comp (both on the track and the dyno)

I'm not getting my hopes up that it will do much more than has already been done.

Tim for the most part I agree with you. There is more then just dyno hp however. For example I make about the same hp with a TST comp (stacked with a drag comp) as I do with a drag comp. At the drag strip though I run over 2 tenths quicker with a drag comp. With a Redline box I run quicker in the 1/4 mile then either the TST or the Drag Comp, but dyno less.

What I can say about the Adrenaline is that I've never tried a combo that spools as nice as it does. With the non-comp beta tune that I have, it runs on par with the Drag Comp in the 1/4 mile. I have not heard, but I don't believe that Quad is pushing the VP44 very hard at this time. I don't get any sign of the shudder that I get with the TST Comp or the Redline box, when they are on their higher settings. The conversations I have had, they were pushing getting features added and tested first.

Features I like so far:

1. Spoolup better then anything I have tried. Both during powerbraking and daily driving. Much better then a TST Comp.

2. No timing surge or other cold weather problems like I have with my Drag Comp.

3. Runs the 1/4 mile as well as my comp box does, with about 2psi more boost. This time of year it's much faster then my comp box is, because it doesn't have the timing surge at high boost levels (during cold weather), that my comp does.

4. Turbo timer is kind of a nice feature.

When you say spoolup is better, do you attribute that to more aggressive fueling down low?

I wish I had a definative answer for that. I do not think it is with more agressive fueling, because the level of smoke is less. My guess is that it has to do with better control of the timing. Probably is a combination of both though... It does use a 32bit processor, so the number of calculations it can make per second is way up there over most currently available boxes.

Paul

How much quicker does this box spool?

twice as fast?

How do you want me to measure it?

Besides seat of the pants street driving, the only other real measure I have is building boost at the starting line. Most NHRA tracks use a 10 second auto start system. Which for a quick definition means that you have 10 seconds to build boost and stage. When using the Redline box stacked with a drag comp, its always a rush to build boost fast enough without smoking out the lights, and still get staged in time. With the Adrenaline I can do it with ease. Sorry not a very quanitative way of measuring it...

I knew that a unit of measurement would be hard to define on something like that, but your description did a pretty good job. That may prove to be super useful for guys with bigger singles.

For a reference point check - have you driven a Smarty equipped vehicle? If so, how does the low end of the Adrenaline compare? That is the ONLY reason I even keep Smarty installed with my Drag Comp.

I ran the Smarty/Drag comp & this box is every bit as powerful as that stack on power level 4 out of 10. It also has cooler egts & the pedal isn't as jumpy.

Wow. Thanks for the response.

I am waiting till this hits the market and if the feedback continues as it has been, I'll be adrenalized for sure... ... ... ... ..... :D
