Anyone running a Quadzilla XZT Towing Module on their '04. 5 or newer CTD?

1) Any driveability problems / trouble codes?

2) How's the EGT's under cruise and when towing medium to heavy?

3) Does it add power in the lower RPM range (unlike the EZ)?

Please share your experiences and comments.

Thanks!

A freind of mine has one on his truck. He says the lower rpms have great power and when we are towing our Jeeps through the mountains he has excellent power and his egt's are staying around 900-1000 on most hills and it stays around 800 on cruise. I am always asking him what his readings are whenever we go somewhere. He is trrying to talk me into getting one too, but I have 16,000 more miles til I hit 100,000 and with my luck I would get it and have all kinds of problems and not get any warranty work done, so I am going to wait.

I put the the XZT chip in my 04. 5 dually last year about this time. The first year I pulled a 15k 3 axel King of the Road 5er and the dodge did good. So last year I added the XZT chip. I felt it spooled up faster without a load and with a load it got up to road speed a lot quicker also. I spent my winter in southern AZ traveling around. It will tell you on your overhead comp that you have gained 4 mpg, which is not true, you don't gain much. You have to hand calc. They claim 65 hp and 150 ft lbs in torque gain. This is within the boundaries of the 400 hp max your stock turbo will handle with out over doing from what I read on some thread.

1. It has not given me any grief that I can see or trouble codes

2. EGT's are lower when pulling and I always watch my gages so that I know when to ease up a bit or drop into a lower gear for the situation at hand.

3. It does SEEM I say SEEM to have more pulling power in the lower range.

I am happy with it and the price was not bad. I only wanted better performance when towing not to bomb the heck out of the truck.

I have the standard box and tow on the 60hp setting. I too watch the gauges. The box actually keeps the egts much lower and I have plenty of passing power. While towing an 11K 5th wheel I get around 12-13mpg. I did have a problem with the first box. The company overnighted me a new and then had me send back the old one. Great service and no codes or any issues. Oo.

I Guess Quadzilla Doesn't Need Anymore Business???

There is no way I would make a purchase commitment when the supplier I am inquiring with about their products doesn't have the courtesy to respond to my e-mails or give me a call. I have e-mailed Quadzilla Performance Technologies Inc. once in April and TWICE this month with my checkbook open and ready for the purchase of a power module (Quadzilla XZT Towing Module in particular). You think they would be just slightly interested. I guess Quadzilla doesn't need my hard-earned American bucks. And, God forbid I should have a problem with their product after my purchase like so many of you out there have mentioned . . . where the h-e-double hockysticks would their service/support be? I don't have a good feeling about these folks. They need to take a lesson from Geno's Garage, DieselManor and KORE, all of which consistently demonstrate prompt and excellent customer service IMHO.

For all of you out there with Quadzilla products, I hope they serve you well, 'cause I'm certainly not experiencing the responsiveness many of you have mentioned in various posts.

Congratulations, Quadzilla . . . you've just lost the trust of a potential customer.

Can you tell me where you sent the email to? Do you have one of our direct emails or did you email off of the website.

If you emailed off of the website could you tell me what link you used. It sounds like we may have a link that is not actually forwarding it to our server?

I very highly doubt someone got this email and did not want to respond but, I would like to check into it for you?

Also, just for a quick reference. If you ever have an email problem like this we do have a toll free number, 888-842-6572.

We will be happy to answer any and all questions and help you find a vendor to purchase through.

Qzilla,

Due to the number of questions and the length of my message, I thought it best to send an e-mail to your company versus calling your toll-free number.

On your website, I clicked on "Contact Us" and used the following e-mail address provided: info@quadzillapower.com. On the same section of your website, I also forwarded the same message via your Customer/Tech Support link. I purposely avoided your sales e-mail address qptisales@quadzillapower.com as I was looking for technical answers and not a sales pitch.

If any of these conduits on your website are not currently functional, please PM me with a valid e-mail address and I will gladly resend my original message which contains eight questions about the XZT Towing module as it pertains to the 325/610 CTD. I've heard some good comments about this product and am still interested in exploring it as an option.

Thanks for your prompt reply to my post. My apologies if my tirade was the result of a faulty e-mail link.

We are working to find our issues with the website as we have not recieved any mail from some of our email links.

My concern with the Quadzilla and the EZ are the rail pressure increases. It is my opinion that these increases can do harm to the fuel system. I didn't say they will do harm as many guys go this route but I think it obviously increases your chances of an expensive injector problem.

I personally am more comfortable with the Van Aaken boxes as they are a timing and duration modifier. I also have read that the best low end gains come from timing and duration.

Bringing this thread back as I'am also interested in the XZT for towing. I found a place that will make a smoking great deal on the commander and ZXT.

Rockinj,
Is there a chance you could post the 8 questions you had and if it's o. k. with qzilla also post the replies.

Despirite for a towing module that will give a nice MPG increase. Please advise. :)

I have a 0-30-60-100hp module in the box with all the hardware and instructions. It has been flashed for an 06 (dont know if that makes a difference or not) but I'll take $200 for it and I'll pay the freight.

I've got one for an 05 you can have it if you will pay the postage. Maybe you can get it fixed. Throws codes puts the truck in limp mode.

My XZT has worked flawlessly on my 05 for over a year now. I sent it in to have the timing removed so I can run it with a timing/duration downloader. They removed the timing and sent it back, shipping and all, for free. I offered to pay. I never expected to not have to pay. They said, "don't worry about it... it's on us". Now that is customer service to the Nth degree. Excellent products and company. PERIOD.

Quad rocks...

It would be a bargain to take up Cmast for that module. If you get it and it does not work for you I will make certain that whatever is wrong with it is fixed. I am pretty certain you should just be able to install it and go.

If someone does not jump on it they are crazy!

Although my experience is with an early 2003 truck and not with the XZT module I can attest to a very pleasant performance increase using Quadzilla's Xzillaraider controlled by their Commander. I don't use level 3 in deference to my old 47RE transmission, but on level 1 and 2 the performance is noteworthy in every respect. It just pulls much better from low RPM all the way up and makes the Cummins' performance crisp and tractable in every respect. I wasn't looking for high RPM tire smoking horsepower/torque capability as I'm just not into that area - merely wanted a more useable power in the normal low-mid RPM tow/drive modes and that is exactly what was delivered.

Have had excellent experience calling their tech support people for general and specific questions, both before and after my purchase of the Quadzilla products (Commander, Xzillaraider, Fuel Pressure Kit, & Pillar mount mount) from Thoroughbred Diesel (have had excellent experience with them as well). Had a single minor question/issue with regard to one of their wiring harnesses and Quadzilla proactively addressed every point and went the 2nd mile to make it right.

Thanks qzilla, I sent Cmast a pm. Looking forward to being a new quadzilla user. Oo.

I'am soooooo stocked about this right now I can hardly type. The dog is running around barking, the grandkids are screaming, the TV is so loud I can hardly think but who needs to think, this is the best thing that has happened to me since... ... well TDR guidelines keep me from saying. ;) :) :-laf :D Oo.

I have the XZT and Commander on a 98. 5 24 valve. Get good power increase from all 3 settings... normally run in the #1 setting. Fuel mileage stayed about the same ... 17. 5 - 18 ... in general driving, empty, using the new low sulphur fuel. Most of the rest of the people I have talked to in this area lost about 1. 5 mpg with the new low sulphur fuel. I'm happy with same mileage and more power from the XZT.

The Commander is another story. The 1st Commander I received went black after about 100 miles. Jeremy got another unit out to me immediately; this one (#2) had a problem with human fingerprints leaving residue on the circuit board and would not get past the display; #3 is currently installed and has worked fine since day one (approx. 6 mo).

Fuel Pressure Kit was purchased as soon as it became available in late Nov. And installed on AIRDOG system. Readings were erratic; Commander was set to alarm at 5 psi. Alarmed anywhere from 14 psi to zero (0). Contacted Jeremy again and found out all the fuel pressure sending units from their supplier were tested at Ford specs... high pressure... 80-100 lbs psi. I am still waiting for promised unit with the correct low pressure numbers zero (0) to 40 psi. 2 weeks for this and the new Commander update is the current info.
