OK, I know this should be posted in the towing forum, but the question is specific to 1st gens. Where does everyone have the brake controllers mounted? Seems a lot of the second gen folks are mounting in the spot the ash try is located. Has anyone done this in a first gen? I'm putting in a new Prodigy and it looks like the area just to the left of the ash tray is about the best. I have my old one mounted to the left of the steering wheel low on the dash but it is not a good location for me. I want to be able to reach down and use the manual slide if the trailer starts swaying on me.

If anyone has one mounted in the ashtry, send me a picture if you have one. PLEASE!:)

Mounting

Stan,

I mounted my controller just to the left of the ash tray also. You can see and reach it without a lot of movement. The wiring is also easy to hide there.

I mounted mine to the left of the ashtray. I installed a Jordan Brake control which is attached to the brake pedal arm with a cable and applies braking action based on pedal movement. Works Great!!!:D

The area I looked at seems to be the location of choice for all of you(except the one with a remote) Guess I'll put it there. May take a harder look first at the ash tray to see what I can do there. Don't use it for anything other than to store keys, etc so wouldn't miss it much.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

I have a Draw Tite Activator II mounted to the left of the ashtray in my 91 now. BUT... I had a 93 that had it mounted to the left of hte ashtray, but had a cutout in the dash plastic so it would mount to a more solid surface, and be level. I have also taken the ashtray out and mounted them there. Fit pretty good, and was a little easier to reach than down lower. The ashtray pops out easily enough; seems like there are screw holed up on the metal bar above the ashtray, too. See how you like it "up" there. I didnt take a pic of it, or I'd post it.
