2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Grill Cover?

I've done some driveway changes at my lake house, and it is much steeper than it used to be. When I pull forward/downhill I don't think it leaks, but when I back out/up the driveway it dumps oil out everywhere. Would backing the truck down the hill, then pulling forward up the driveway be better? Would this stop the truck from puking the blow by? Thanks. I know there is a fix to it and I plan to do it later this summer.
 
easy fix= get 8ft heater hose and a coupler. get rid of the bottle, let it vent behind the trans somewhere and hose clamp an old sock on it to catch any oil that might drip out. change the sock when needed.

That won't stop the severe oil pumping out the OEM blowby path on steep downgrades - it'll only puke the oil out somewhere else. DC has a revised kit they offer to eliminate this problem - one very common to off-roaders - but it's expensive!



TDR member Eric has a mod he did to his to eliminate that problem relatively cheaply - and there are also several others - try a search on this forum for those threads...



But, yes, eliminating driving forward down steep grades will stop the problem, if that's an option.
 
That relocate kit can be a nightmare all in its own right. If It's the kit that the tappet access cover gets replaced and seems cheezy in comparison to the oem cover. TorqueThis put one on his truck and the cover leaked so bad it was off the truck within a week and several gaskets and fixes later.

LOL and they now sell for about 3 bucks on ebay LOL if you can even find a seller that still has the ambition to sell it :-laf



The theory was good *kind of* (If more baffleing was in place to control the oil from breathing up the back side of the cover into the tube manifold. And the cover had some sort of gussetting to strengthen the blinkin thing.



I wish I was in the room with the engineers when this was proposed to DC for a retro fitment kit solution.

The Fleetquard Enviroquard kit solves this problem. Since we installed it, no more problems with leakage. Otherwise you back down or drive up steep grades to avoid oil puke. The downside to this setup is the cost at about $180, if you can find it. It has a different vent setup that drains into oil pan through an extra dipstick location. Personally, it's worth every penny.
