Just because it has a big scary name doesn't make it a drug. It is not a drug any more than salt or sugar is. Glutamate is produced naturally in many common foods as well as your own body. It was originally made from a cooked down broth of seaweed. Nowadays it is made using a process of fermenting starchy foods such as sugarbeets or molasses.
The only reason it hasn't been outlawed is that the food industry stands to lose megabucks from thier food tasting like it really does
I doubt that in 1908 when MSG started to come into use that there was much of a "food industry" conspiring to poison us for profit.
