Ok guys... I'm confused. When I installed an EZ box on my truck, boy was it a whole new truck. The EZ box really make my truck come alive.

But now I'm questioning what type of application the EZ box is good for.

I know 2 guys here in Denver, both with Manual transmission's one with a 2001 5spd, and one with a 2000 non HO 6spd. Both of which dyno'd their trucks with and without their EZ. For some reason on both trucks the EZ only added 10HP. What gives? Why are manual trannys seeing less power increase then auto's?

One of the guys called up Edge and without question was sent a replacment. When the replacement was intalled, he said that the power seemed a little better, but nothing major. Any ideas???

Dunno, but my "seat of the pants" dyno says there's a lot more than a 10 BHP gain on our ETH/DEE. You really need to compare the dyno curves before and after adding the EZ since most of the benefit of the EZ is in the mid-range, not at the 2700 RPM horsepower peak of the stock ETH/DEE. It's a sweet towing box, especially with the boost elbow. :D More torque, less downshifting and substantially lower EGT's (in conjunction with the BHAF and 4" exhaust, our EGT's are about 200 degF lower than stock). :)

Rusty

I agree with Rusty. For a real seat in the pants feel put some 275's in. Don't know about the numbers but the feel is definately there.

Here's a little food for thought. The one guy that has the 6spd. He does have 275 injectors installed along with the EZ. His MAX HP on the Dyno was 210..... so in reality, the 275's didn't really add anything.

Compared to my buddy with the 5spd. His Stock max HP was 196, with the EZ only he was at 205.

Very interesting don't ya think?

Kev

Actually the Boost elbow has been installed on both rigs. . and the Dyno is the Latest and Greatest Mustang Dyno with the most recent software, so I don't see why it couldn't be trusted.

I dunno... guess my curiosity has the best of me.

Kev

Find Another Dyno

Kevin, check around for a Dynojet dyno and rerun those rigs.

The six speed should run 210 stock. The 275's should add 35/40 hp, and the EZ should add another 35 @ 2700. I've dynoed the EZ on a six speed and measured 66 rwhp @ 2000 rpm.

Your dyno readings seem rather low.

If you can't find a Dynojet, get a G-Tech. No G-Tech, try 0-60 runs.

Well, a bunch of us dyno'd on a Mustang dyno in Sacramento about 6 weeeks ago. One of our local guys [Torqus Maximus] dynod at 240 RWHP I believe, and he has a 2001 ETC/auto, 2WD with only a psychotty air system and an EZ box at that time. So the EZ bought him somewhere between 40 - 60 HP.

I can't tell you what it did for me, as I also had DD 3's and an HX40 when I dyno'd my ETH/DEE rig.

Tom

Ok guys. . here's a copy of the dyno results for the 2000 non HO 6spd. Honestly to me it looks like the clutch isn't holding. What do you think?

Throw That Chart Away!

That resembles the stock market more closely then a Cummins power curve!:)

You can imagine the power should rise slowly to a peak then slowly drop. It shouldn't look like an EKG:D

Your point about the clutch is a very good one. Could be slipping.

My truck was on the Dyno this weekend and made 217 hp with ez and straight pipe. Its an ETC/auto. I forgot my K&n filter so that figure was with stock air filter, don't know how much it would have helped anyway.

EZ

My Y2K auto was dynoed after the EZ was installed, stock hp= 178, with EZ+elbow 235 hp, I know a six speed HO will put out more HP than mine or something is drastically wrong.

Want to thank Kev for starting this thread. I'm one of the guys he talked about.

After Edge sent me the new box,it seemed that there was a little improvement, but didn't think it was "Gee Whiz. So what's a guy to do. . it's just money and I had to know. Went and got another dyno run today Max H. P. 235. 1 and Max Torque: 595. 7. So it did make an improvement.

Being a dually, does the extra drag cause a little lower reading, and Altitude. We are at around 6200ft. Surely with the stock turbo that would affect it some??.

So the new EZ did help. .

Thanks again to Kev and to all that offered help with their ideas

My Eth stock 217 hp

With 275 and EZ 309 hp

I have seen numerous times where guys say the 275 gave around 40 hp, so in my case the EZ numbers are right on the money.

Wes

there is about 20hp lost for those extra rear wheels due to unsprung weight , frank noble of JRE pulled his outers off at the dyno event we had last april to see if there was more hp lurking in those tires . there was , still didn't beat me :p

at the same dyno event i saw a 10 hp difference between the stock air filter and box vs a RE-0880 ...
