I am planning to put a new exhaust on the truck in the next few weeks. From what I have gathered here with the setup I am running for box and injectors a 4" is the best solution for me. I am hoping someone could kind of reassure me on that part and then to help me on another point. I have a Pac Brake that replaces the factory elbow after the turbo. I love the brake and have had almost no problems with it so I don't want to change it if I don't have to. But does having that reduce the benefits of going to a larger exhaust or does it really not make a difference. Right now I am running the factory without a muffler. EGT's are ok except when towing then I have to watch it a little more closely but it is still ok, usually only have to back off on the really steep grades or just turn the box off. Last of all, I enjoy the sound I have right now with the straight pipe but the wife would like it slightly quieter (to me it sounds the same as it did with the muffler on, but I did angle the exit more towards the rear with a different tip). So what kind of system keeps the deep throaty growl without making it too loud in the cab? From looking around I am tempted to get ahold of Jannety and see about their 4 inch kit, or to just go to an exhaust shop here in town and see what they offer.

Thanks for any answers or suggestions.

Hey Cowboy-

I would go with the 4 inch stainless kit from Magnaflow. It can be purchased on ebay for 400 shipped with a tip. A 4 inch system is perfect for your application. The exhaust brake IMO won't hurt performance and since the pipe is only going to be 3 inches for a foot or so. The magnaflow downpipe is 3. 5 inches and the rest is 4 after that. It fits nice and looks awsome!!!

I have the 4" magna flow stainless exhuast system and it has served me well, It sounds good and doesn't change the sound in the cab much. On my truck it cooled the EGT's about 100-150 deg. on a hard pull. and they seem to fit well so you can put it on without much trouble ( I had to put mine on in the driveway )

STACK IT !!

I didn't, but kind of wish I did. I'll have to wait until this one rots off. I went with aluminized so I wont have to wait as long as I would if it were stainless

I installed the Magnaflow 4" stainless, hitched to the trailer and headed for Fla. The sound was fine but I had a roar in the cab that was unacceptable. I called Rip & he suggested a 2nd muffler. My first thought was no way but then I remembered this guy Rip has some credibility so I ordered mufler # 2. Sounds great can see no change in EGT. Installation is easy as everything fits perfectly.

I went ahead and called Rip and ordered the diamond eye system. I will give it a try and see how it goes. One thing that convinced me to go with it was that when I called I must have talked to him for quite a while about all kinds of little details about installing and what I should expect. He took the time to answer them all and then was very polite when I said I would have to take time to think about what I wanted and then called back later to place my order. The fact that he took the time to explain so much without even being assured of a sale was nice to see. I felt he earned my business.

ridgid. Even though did didnt notice an EGT change im sure it raised backpressure. Not always a good thing. The magnaflow install on my dads 12v didnt have any bad cab noice? You should have left the exhaust how it was and insulated the back on the cab with dynamat or other sound dead. material. It would have made it a hell of a lot nicer
